2 out of 5 stars for me. Long time comic fan. Just didn't like Ezra's take on the character. Opening sequence was absurdly stupid to me. Keaton was amazing though. Some good moments, but overall just glad it's over and we can move forward.
No spoilers: it's a 5-6/10. I generally don't like Ezra's or the writer's take on Barry, but that almost gets out of the way. The CGI ranges from bad to really bad, but the movie does actually do a decent job of acknowledging the DC universe, and the dialogue/plot mostly make sense. There is some great fan service that probably carried the movie for me. It's one of the better entries in the DCU, which means it's a good popcorn flick that no one is going to be talking about in a few weeks.
Oh, one other thing I'll toss in with tiny spoilers if you haven't even watched a trailer - it's a multiverse movie, and had this come out 2-3 years ago might have significantly changed how I think about it. That said, especially after No Way Home and Across the Spider-Verse, it's hard not to compare to those and they're both way, way better movies. Watching it a week after AtSV especially, it really doesn't fair favorably.
Thanks. I just haven’t had it in me to really dive into the DCU stuff. I’ve seen Aquaman 1, WW 1, and the second Suicide Squad, then Peacemaker. I had heard enough about James Gunn and casting to know it was a multiverse movie, but I haven’t seen much.
This is just reinforcing that I need to see AtSV, lol.
Regardless of how I felt about the film (I wasn't particularly impressed, not particularly disappointed), I'd love to see more Sasha Calle as Supergirl. With Keaton I thought they were the best part of the film overall.
EDIT
I also found out today there were two other endings that hinged upon WB and eventually Gunn, both of which I thought could have served the film better than what we saw. Yet that's my personal opinion.
