Report: Pastor testifies on the reason evangelicals support Republicans: We “made a deal with the devil”
"That deal was, we would support everything on the conservative agenda," says Robert Schenck and they would give us Roe. Taking rights away from half the population.

In that meeting that I participated in, the conversation went something like this: 'You guys want Roe v. Wade overturned, we can do that for you, but you take the whole enchilada, you take the whole thing,"' he said. "You take everything else that comes with it. Because if you want Roe gone, you have to work with us."

"From that point on that community that I had served, and still do, made a deal with the devil," he said. "That deal was, we would support everything on the conservative agenda, whether or not we had conscientious conflict with them.

The definition of evil, immoral and unethical.

boost, please.

Christian Nationalists Are Trying to Gaslight You.

Christian nationalism is a threat to both democracy and Christianity. The gaslighting is just a strategy designed to advance that threat.

Christian nationalism –in the contemporary American context – is an attempt to merge American identity with Christian identity. It is “less accurate to think of Christian nationalism as a coherent belief system than as a movement; a joint venture between religious and political actors seeking power.” Two corrupt groups join forces to take over American government. The fascist have captured the corrupt court.

@skykiss People who try to impose their willfully uninformed moral and medical beliefs on others are not moral and decent people.

I say, "willfully uninformed", because moral compassionate decent people, take the time to be fully educated about abortion, and do not do what these evangelicals are doing.

Personally think these evangelicals mindlessly cling to this extremist crusade of theirs, because their self-identity is so wrapped up in it. They have no idea who they are without it.

@skykiss On the flip side, Evangelicals believe that getting all the Jews to Israel (and/or getting everyone else out of Israel) is the key to triggering the Rapture (in which said Jews would either convert or be left behind), which is why they forced anyone courting their votes to pledge unconditional support for the Israeli government (while still being antisemitic).

@skykiss

Are these evangelical leaders so blinded by a thirst for power over the lives of 167 million American women, that they failed to recognize the felony disenfranchisement scheme buried at the heart of the overturn of Roe vs Wade?

Evangelicals want women back in the kitchen, barefoot, poor, and pregnant, without a voice.

JRFreeman,

@skykiss wow. It's almost like separating the affairs of the church from the affairs of the state is a requirement to a free society. Who could have foreseen such a thing?

@skykiss This is much more true of white Evangelists than nonwhite Evangelists, and that needs to be made clear. The whole foundation of the Evangelist movement is racism. Funny; so is the whole foundation of Donald Trump's popularity.

@skykiss It’s interesting that the article doesn’t address the remarkable rise of prosperity gospel

More than half of US Christians (52%) now believe in prosperity gospel (up from 38% in 2017)

Trump fits squarely within that sort of Power of Positive Thinking bullshit

@peterbutler @skykiss

One of the many important things this article misses is that the base population of church growers is changing rapidly.

As telephones allow young people to get information outside their home and community, they realize what church is.

This also gave us a simultaneous fall of the traditional Republican Party and rise of Trumpism.

@skykiss

The Bible teaches to keep religion out of politics because it's bad for religion.

enoch,

@skykiss good god 😑 you’re a terrible pastor if you’re making deals with the devil ffs. Not to mention the separation of church and state is a very important separation. You didn’t make a deal with the devil, You married the devil.
