If only my knowledge of EU law had the desired impact this fast every time 🙂
My father wanted to pay a EDF French electricity bill from a Belgian bank account, and was told that this was not possible because the bank was outside France
I formulated a stern email to EDF for him, in French, stipulating this was not allowed as a reason within the Single European Payment Area (SEPA), and within a few hours they relented in a grovelling email!
@grlodi how apologetic the second email was makes me think they’re now used to giving in if customers are pushy. But the default should have been changed years ago.
@jon I had the same recently when I tried to buy an internet contract in Spain. Even in the shop they weren’t able to help me, the starting letters of the IBAN „ES“ were hardcoded into the form. Not legal but they don’t care 🤷♂️
@jon not me, but I’ve heard multiple complaints from people using Bunq when they only had NL IBANs. Too mich trouble in Schland so they now advertise they have DE IBANs.
