Well, apparently I'm banned on #Reddit site-wide. When someone appears to be a threat to themself, I report it. How dare I use their report system in the manner intended? Banning someone for that sends the wrong message.
I've been doxxed, harassed, threatened, and even reported a terroristic threat in the past, yet the admins refuse to consider the mere possiiblity of good faith despite a decade on the site with no issues. And naturally they won't give anything other than a canned response.
I only ever really participated in was the Rust subreddit, but not being able to is a negative for everyone. The subreddit I moderated already has obvious rule violations (including further harassment directed towards me) that can't be addressed by anyone, as I was the sole moderator. Good job #Reddit.
I asked this a while ago but I wanted to ask again since I'm on a new server :
Long time Reddit user but I'm tired of their bullish!t and want to move on like I moved on from the bird site... or now I guess it's the swastica site.
What is everyone using to replace Reddit in their lives?
You might want to search on Mastodon for like the title or keyword of reddit forum & look under profiles to see if anything pops up that might interest you with Lemmy, kbin or a.gup.pe domains & then visit the original profile or follow and take a chance
People have strong opinions about Lemmy, just so you know, even ML unrelated instances
Pre-warning to my followers: I'm going to leave #reddit for good and I'm blogging about the reasons - mostly because reddit management gone crazy (latest: my #firefox isn't working any more for reddit) & also because of https://karl-voit.at/2020/10/23/avoid-web-forums/
I only lurk on #Reddit without an account - anybody want to tell this person the right address to contact? It's actually MassDOT, so they need to email MassDOTMaffaMystic@dot.state.ma.us as this traffic change was part of the Mystic /Maffa bridge project.
@inliuofjoan the 311 should generally be able to figure that out, and I think e-mailing the mayor should be the next option if a city's 311 system doesn't work right. Governors and state DOTs are of course a whole other level of buck-passing that shouldn't be necessary or tolerated, IMO. As for turning left with a car, well, I hope the reply is don't.
I came across this #Reddit family drama from one of those narration YouTube videos and reading all of the original posts spanning several months was pretty bonkers! I don’t care if the story was an exercise in creative fiction or actually real because I was totally entertained. 😅
@seav many years back, when blogs were a thing, there was one called IIRC 'the blog of a fat woman'. Her was a middle-low class family, composed of her, his husband, one young adult child and two adolescent children. The YA knew about computers and set her up a blog, an she wrote about her and her family. The blog started to become known, and got quite a following. She interacted with the commenters a lot (when comments where still mostly civil).
Maybe lemmy + AP will develop into something as good as the Usenet but so far I don't see it yet.
I'll re-evaluate in a couple of years when the core of lemmy seemed to be stable and a number of alternative clients with at least half of the advanced Usenet-client features I was using decades ago are available.
So far, lemmy just seems to copy reddit with most of its conceptual downsides except federation.
@ademir_lemmy_br@pedro If lemmy (or some other community) would provide a AP-to-NNTP gateway, I would reconsider because then I'd be able to use the advanced client features I'm looking for.
Don't see that coming either. 🤷
With more and more platforms failing, I get picky where I contribute to. I'd rather not than use something I'm not convinced of. Focusing on my blog (Atom/RSS) + Mastodon + book writing + giving PIM lectures in RL seems to be my path as it seems.
Le regole erano sempre state chiare? E allora inutile lamentarsene ora #ownyourdata#ownyourweb https://www.ilpost.it/2024/05/17/reddit-accordo-openai/
@GualTRex
@LA9306 it's someone mass-reporting everything posted to the DT. They might use a script or bot for efficiency, but there is no automated systems made by the mods or admins that send these out
Do people just argue for the sake of it? This person took issue with what I wrote and when I asked them to explain, we wind up pretty much with what I originally said.
Molto interessante!
