Truly scary moment: we got an oil change yesterday locally. Today, about 3 miles into our drive on the highway, the hood flew wide open against the windshield. Luckily the windshield is not damaged and we pulled over safely, but super scary.
(Oil changes at 1000 miles for us or 8-9 months heh)

@enobacon not that we noticed. We do drive a very old car. It just happened very fast. I called the oil change place and they said they have video showing them tugging on the hood to check but we probably had gone 6 miles total before that happened.

A week after a family of four was killed by a person crashing their car into a bus stop, another person crashed their car into a bus stop.

Mayor Breed must take immediate action to transform our streets — using physical infrastructure — to help more people shift trips away from cars.

@enobacon @daihard @LukeBornheimer I also used to hear "driving is a privilege", growing up in Texas, of all places. But maybe they only meant that when it meant having more reasonable hours/staffing in a lower income area for getting a license. 🤔

My friend told me she has 0.02% lifetime of bacon in the freezer. Naturally I'm now trying to write a systems of equations to determine how many slices of bacon that is, given that each slice of bacon shortens your lifespan by 6 minutes.
I'm currently stuck, so nothing else will get done today.

(Non-rhetorical question:) How many of you have ever gotten an audience with your elected representative?

Even in a small town, I was never able to. Developers routinely got meetings and were also given agenda time in City Council meetings instead of having to queue for 3 min of public comment time. ?

@glightly I have a really responsive councilor. Shortly after we moved into his district, we tried to get a traffic calming petition, and he came out and knocked doors with us to get signatures. He jokes that I'm probably responsible for half of his constituent calls these days.
But getting more ears required joining a group. I would say he was struggling to get attention in his district to start with. It was through joining a group with other advocates that things started to happen.

But also a rear rack. Fenders and kickstand would have been nice as well, as I have still yet to acquire those.

Went at the Bear Creek wildlife sanctuary this morning. Got to see an eagle, two types of owls, and lots of hawks, especially red tailed, but this is the only one close enough for my cell phone to capture.

Well, finally in the last stages of finishing up the heat pump project (MassSave final inspection just happened - yes, this is to get the rebate for the project done in September 😣). Just in time for the water heater to go. 😣😣😣
Anybody get a heat pump water heater recently in the Boston area? Worth it?
