Rain and ice pellets have started in #Barrhaven, as the wind continues. It's been over 24h of strong E winds of about 30 gusting to 50. My tarps are flapped out, but I think the garbage & recycling are staying put for now.

Finally, a meal at a local restaurant we all enjoyed. I’m actually surprised, as my wife said she’s only heard comments from other people saying they thought it was average. State & Main. A touch more expensive than we usually pay but it was sort of a celebratory meal, so that’s ok.

Boxed cereal manufacturers are selling cereal for $3.99 in #loblaws. That's not a sale price, they shrunk the boxes so much, they'll probably last two days. I guess people pushed back against the ridiculous prices and stopped buying the really big, expensive boxes. The #enshittification of #groceries continues. #ottawa#barrhaven#canada

#Barrhaven east councillor Lo seems to be on the wrong side of most of it.
Being on the wrong side much of the time will make it hard to vote for him in the next election, and impossible to support as a volunteer or donor.

If you like skating on outdoor rinks in #ottawa, now is the time. Many have opened in the past week. They should have a couple of weeks before the spring sun or storms start damaging them in Feb. Official ODR season ends March 1 but it has been tough even making it to that date in recent years.
Originally, the Weather Network was only a teletyped TV screen with a blue background and elevator music. When a warning was posted, the screen would turn red, the music switched to endless loud beeping, and the text of the warning would start rolling.
Think of it like the Amber Alert cellphone beeps, but on TV, blasting you off the couch from an after-school nap...
