Fantastic weather all of a sudden. #Schwiemu requested a new compost bin, so I found a spot, moved the old bunny box out of the way (the hardest part of this project so far) and went to work.
Bonus challenge: Make a double compost bin using only this stack of sawmill junk that's been sitting there for years.
Total cost: ~€10 for screws and nails. All wood from the junk stack. I put some planks inwards so I could use nails instead of screws (pressure is always outward), as nails are cheap and screws are not.
Front boards are removable and held in a slot. They have spacers nailed on to form gaps. Even nailed a cover plank to the top to hide the end grain from weathering.
In my neighborhood there are a number of what I assume to be old corner stores converted into apartments. I saw this last week and I just found the door really striking. I never noticed the paint on the top of the columns made to look like plants. Such a nice small detail!
I could really do without mud season (number 4, I think) this week! We're supposed to be collecting the #glavel (foam glass product for sub-slab insulation) tomorrow but the roads are a mess. Need to do 4-5 round trips with our trailer and it's not going to be fun.
But we know that we are no longer the same, and not only know that we are no longer the same, but know in what we are no longer the same, you wiser but not sadder, and I sadder but not wiser, for wiser I could hardly become without grave personal inconvenience, whereas sorrow is a thing you can keep on adding to all your life long, is it not, like a stamp or egg collection.
