Updated: This evening we will be competing in the annual pub quiz, captained by the ever brilliant @kristianpagh (I retired this year after our best ever result last year).
If you are in Copenhagen and would like to join the team, especially if you have (specialist energy, policy, unfccc knowledge), then do shoot me a DM and I'll send details!

»Factcheck: 21 misleading myths about electric vehicles«

Hopefully this will help make an end to the endless discussions whether EV’s are a good thing to the climate or the oposite (Hint: They’re a good thing)🌱♻️

#ClimateDiary There is no question that #COP28 will be the most important yet. The #GlobalStocktake will be the “biggest accountability moment in history”, and on its basis leaders will need to make crucial key decisions about fiscal and policy commitments. With less than two months to go, we need to all be as well informed as possible and put pressure on leaders as much as we can. I thought I would start a 🧵that I will keep going in the run up 1/n

pvonhellermannn,
@pvonhellermannn@mastodon.green avatar

20/n Anyway sceptics were probably right: this year’s synthesis report has shown that, so far, the ratchet hasn’t worked well enough; all governments, all NDCs are falling abysmally short of what’s needed.

25/n So, on phasing out of : it is obvious that a) many countries/parties are refusing to commit to the complete phasing out of fossil fuels countries, and b) there is, as always, a whole forest of terms and clauses to come to grips with, obfuscating things. Global from electric power may peak this year, report says
"A new report on global generation found that the growth of was so rapid that it was close to the incredibly fast rate required if the world is to hit the tripling of capacity by the end of the decade that experts believe is necessary to stay on the 1.5C pathway."

    Most quantitative scenarios used by the #IPCC are based on the #SharedSocioeconomicPathways (or #SSP), implemented in process-based #IntegratedAssessment models - these are not DICE-style models.
