This fine creature kept me company while I was eating dinner by a stream last week during my #backpacking trip in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire. It just hung out on my boot while I enjoyed the sounds of the stream!
Got in 3-plus miles before the rain got serious this morning, took a few snaps, including a cedar waxwing, downy woodpecker and two young bucks. #GetOutside#Hiking
This #Monday morning I’m bored and pondering seed things, such as bigleafed maple whirlybirds at the park, chive flowers, and garlic scapes from the garden, which I ate. Have also consumed the year’s first garlic cloves, a whole bulb already. #GetOutside#Gardening#GrowYourOwn
The cherry blossoms have passed and the lilacs are now in bloom! Beautiful sunny run today. So many birds around. This week running, I have seen four great egrets, a green heron, baby goslings with their Canadian parents, Mallard ducklings with mom, cormorants, and so many red winged blackbirds! I am enjoying the last few runs of my taper! Almost go time!
Lot of bird activity on the morning hike, marsh wren singing while building a nest, a black-capped chickadee apparently nesting in a woodpecker hole and a downy woodpecker doing its thing. Oh yes, my fav beaver Little Whittle was in the channel chilling, I love that cutie. #Hiking#GetOutside, it’s how I keep from going crazy.
Auroral borealis activity is currently extreme. Weather permitting, incredible northern lights displays will be visible directly overhead in most northern communities.
Mom & I went for a lovely morning #NatureWalk at #ElkLake after my denturist appointment.
We only saw 2 other people on the trail. We had our morning tea, at the lake.
The beauty of double long runs is that by the second half of the second run, my legs are feeling it and I am shuffling along. Slow and steady means lots of quiet time to look around. So many little wonders!
For folks unable to #GetOutside today/this week, please enjoy some vicarious #NatureImmersion via my musical slideshow, from Mom & daughter nature walk, yesterday morning.
