It says 892 pages in print* and it contains three books within:
dune
muad'dib
the prophet
Specifically I am asking about the #eBook version: Is this an abridged version or not? 892 pages seems a very low pint number for three #books, but everyone is saying that abridged books have that "feature" clearly marked.
I want to read original work of Frank Herbert, but in eBook format.
They’re dune it. Variety reports that following the massive box office success of Dune: Part Two, Legendary has tapped Denis Villeneuve for a third installment that would presumably continue the story of how Paul Atreides goes on to conquer the galaxy. Earlier this year, Villeneuve told Empire that he had already “put words...
"That’s the final irony. As Cole says, the United States came into being via a popular uprising against British tyranny. Yet today, America instinctively identifies with the oppressor, not with the oppressed. As Cole concludes, only when it goes to the movies – to films like Avatar and (with deep ambivalence ) in the Dune series – can the West allow itself to identify with political uprisings."
"Dune 3" is officially in the works. Legendary Entertainment announced yesterday that they are developing a movie, likely to be based on "Dune Messiah." “I would love to make 'Dune Messiah' just to work with [Anya Taylor-Joy] and Florence [Pugh] more," director Denis Villeneuve recently told Entertainment Weekly. "Those actresses are so inspiring. They give me chills and the will to do another one.” Here's more from EW.
including a signed hardcover copy of Sheree Renée Thomas's #BlackPanther: Panther's Rage, a 1st ed signed CHILDREN OF #DUNE, some GRRM stuff, enamel pins, fantasy novels. Zoom chats with writers, and more. Only 36 hours left to check it out!
God Emperor of Dune is where Dune kind of goes off the rails imo,but it is really interesting that through the story they more or less destroy everything that made the Dune universe unique:
Kill the worms (all but leto)
All but eliminate Spice
Prescience blockers (no ships etc)
It's fascinatingly pessimistic that the Golden Path even w Leto's machinations, took about 4500 years to come to fruition
I guess being immortal Leto wasn't in a rush, and obviously a little nuts
i love David Lynch's #Dune movie, but there is a minor detail that really cracks me up.
when the guild navigator is leaving the initial visit with the emperor, their giant container thingie leaves a massive puddle of liquid waste behind it.
the other guild attendants give a completely half-hearted attempt at mopping up after the navigator.
not sure if Lynch intended it, but the disdain shown by the moppers totally captures the guild's attitude towards the entire galaxy.
Franchement les 2 dunes ont leur charmes. La version de David Lynch a des moments plus percutants qui sortent du lot. J'adore leur voix et écouter comment leur vitesse est modulé avec précision. L'intonyation est très belle. :3
It's funny hearing people panning the 1984 adaption of Dune and raving about the recent adaptions. I loved the Lynch version as a child, and I found part 1 of the new version dull. I haven't seen part 2 yet, hopefully it's more exciting; https://www.movieoubliette.com/e/dune-1984/
"Dune," "Foundation" and "The Three Body Problem" were all supposedly unfilmable, and yet here we are. With that in mind, the A.V. Club's William Hughes writes about other sci-fi novels that deserve their shot at the big screen, including "The Caves Of Steel" by Isaac Asimov and Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Left Hand Of Darkness." Tell us in the comments which classic science-fiction stories you'd love to see on film or TV — and if there are any existing adaptations you think shouldn't have been made.
Wegen dem Dune Hype habe ich mir diese Doku über den niemals realisierten Dune Film von Alejandro Jodorowsky auf ARTE angeschaut.
Fazit: Absolut sehenswert.
