Got a replacement blower #ECM#motor from northamericahvac.com - had to order from the States. Installed it, and ... furnace was still throwing an #error code meaning "incorrect #signal from ECM motor" once, then "no signal from ECM motor" forever after.
After double-checking, I saw the part number on the box didn't match what I'd ordered - but that turned out to be a red herring. The box number was for the unprogrammed motor.
I purchased a #replacement from Rheem. It arrived; I installed it, reconnected everything, turned the power back on, and ... the control board still showed #error 68: "incorrect #signal from #ECM".
They sent me the #wrong bloody motor, and I stupidly didn't triple-check the part number before installing it.
The motor itself is identical, just the programming is different.
I'm going to have a bit of a #tech#rant (less charitable people might say #whine) here. If you just want jokes and cute bunny pictures, feel free to skip this one.
Object of my #ire this week? #Furnaces. I'm not even going to rant about their main control boards; most of that's been said better than I could say it, by others with more knowledge than I.
But that's when I learned about the new-new kind of motor that (at least my) furnaces use.
They call it an "#ECM" motor, but that is just an acronym for Electronically #Commutated Motor, which just means it doesn't have motor #brushes - just like a DC #brushless motor.
One weird fact: the album comes on CrO2 tape according to the label. But the type II notches are missing? I checked, the tape IS dark black. So should be genuine CrO2.
I have recently created this #Wikipedia article about Trygve Seim's 'Sangam' album -- a seminal contribution to the Nordic jazz sound. Help me improve it! 😃
The last of a recent mail call - Double, Double You (1984). Kenny Wheeler with Michael Brecker, John Taylor, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette. I don't care, I like Brecker. #NowPlaying#jazz#vinyl#ECM@vinylrecords
