This could be the connection between Ehlers-Danlos and neurodivergence. (People with EDS, like me, are 7 times as likely to be autistic and 5 times as likely to have ADHD -- also like me.)

For anyone adventurous with mobility issues including other zebras, you might find this blog & radio interview interesting, featuring the Wobbly Cyclist (on Insta): https://voltbikes.co.uk/blog/community/celebrating-a-triumphant-journey-on-two-wheels-bbc-sounds-podcast/?utm_source=brevo&utm_campaign=December%202023%20Newsletter&utm_medium=email

Fun times with EDS: I wore some cute sugar skull costume stickers on my face for Halloween, which ripped some of my stupidly thin skin off and now I have red crunchy areas around my eyes where it's healing.

question: Does anyone have experience with arm compression sleeves? Apart from my finger joints, my elbows tend to be the most painful. Also interested in shoulder support.

Speaking of Bi things... I'm currently using an extra dining chair in my office, which is killing my back and makes my legs sad. I think I'm finally going to treat myself to this gloriously queer office chair.

@misswired I will report back! I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so I'm hoping it increases my stamina for how long I can sit and focus. 🤞

7 weeks on Duloxetine. Massive improvements to mood, energy, and pain! I feel like I have my life back again. POTS flare-ups aren't any more common but are more severe when I do have them, with added vertigo. (yay)

HOWEVER sleep isn't great. I don't feel rested in the morning. I guess it's Restless Leg Syndrome, they move all night. I've actually worn a hole in our sheet! Hoping this improves.

All in all, worth it.

A question for people with Ehlers-Danlos. How the hell do you swim? I've never been much of a swimmer at all but I'm making an effort to improve. I am desperately trying to keep my legs straight and hips moving, but my lower body has its own agenda. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Another batch of birdsite folks, so I'll do #introduction again in case they're looking for their people and I'm their people.

I am a #queer #disabled #SFF #author. She/they.

I speak #English and a little #Español, #ASL, and #Csharp and #python.

I have fairly severe #EhlersDanlos / #EDS, #POTS, #migraines, #ChronicPain.

I am a #socialist organizer with #DemSoc, most interested in #feminism and #MutualAid.

I enjoy #punk, #ska, #FolkPunk, and lately I'm on a #metal kick.

I do #VisualArts, #FiberArts, and #FireSpinning, though these things are somewhat dialed back because my bones suck.

I will do my best to post accessibly, including image descriptions and avoiding flashing lights.

I will CW for things like violence, nudity, and hate speech.

I will not CW for cursing, food, politics, or eye contact. If you need CWs for these things, it's okay not to follow me! I just do all of these things a lot, so you wouldn't see most of my posts anyway.

If I see you, and you make interesting original posts, I might follow you. If you post a lot of sexually graphic content, I probably won't. It's not personal.

Hope to see you around 💜

Normal Person: My knee hurts and is having trouble unbending so I will rest, ice it, and call my doctor.

Hypermobile Person: My knee partially dislocated so I smashed it back into place. Pain? It's constant and distracting, but that won't slow me down.

Interesting.

It appears that is now "locked down" such that one cannot even view Tweets or user accounts without logging in first.

Not sure if this is an intentional change on Twitter's part or if they just broke something.

@adamjcook I guess there are a few things I had saved there that I wish I could still access. In particular a conversation with the researcher who identified an association between , , and . Loved that direct connection to researchers. But we'll rebuild that here soon enough.
