For anyone doing some regular #linux system updates (especially since 2.12 got flagged "stable" on #gentoo), grub 2.12 changes the EFI install directories and enables shim lock by default, in the news update it tells you about the install directories (simply blow away your /boot/EFI and let grub rebuild it, way better than their instructions), the shim lock is a bit more tricky, it seems to not be working correctly in 2.12 and even with SB disabled trips up.

Propozycję motywuję w oparciu o trzy punkty. Po pierwsze, prawa autorskie: LLM-y trenowane są z całkowitem olewem na prawa autorskie, i sytuacja wygenerowanej treści jest niejasna. Po drugie, jakość: LLM-y tworzą wiarygodnie wyglądające bzdury. Po trzecie, kwestie etyczne: marnowanie energii, wykorzystanie w służbie obsrania Internetu, zwolnień, wyzysku, tworzenia spamu i oszustw.
Nie chcę, żeby Gentoo było kojarzone z czymś takim. Wręcz przeciwnie, chciałbym, żebyśmy wprost powiedzieli, że Gentoo jest "tworzone przez prawdziwych ludzi".
Now here's something really special - I don't come across things so refreshingly kewl this often. I follow and test with AlienBob's Ktown endowed LiveSlack CDs but I've been running my own installed from scratch Slackware -current workstations (or moving them to new machines) that I've continued maintain w/bleeding edge software for many years.
This is more like the latter (My warm and fuzzy, just how I like it, personal OS install) than the former (LiveSlack CD) - You're getting the benefit of seeing how someone else sets up their machine to incorporate their daily business flow, with all the kewl tweaks and progs right there for you to moll over. You can run it as/is or take it as a starting point to diverge from, incorporating your own style and improvements for years to come.
You prolly wanna bookmark this for sure and I know that I'mma spin this up myself this week!
A couple of things that I feel are pertinent to mention:
You start off with a running system, like any #LiveCD, but already tweaked with plenty of customization and integrations to make this a plug and play daily driver right out of the gate.
It's a great way to skip over the parts that led you to believe it was too much work to justify getting started with #Gentoo.
What's better than a #desktop screenshot? A desktop snapshot!
I spent a couple of months creating a set of scripts to build a #bootable#ISO image out of my #gentoo install, with all the packages, patches and configurations it involves.
Doing this allows me to create an archive of not only what my desktop looks like, but what it feels like. #gnu#linux keeps changing, and with it, my setup. It's hard to bring back old configs.

Tinc desats en un arxiu tots els mòduls del kernel que carrega Ubuntu, entre ells hi ha el mòdul "hid_multitouch" que fa pinta de ser el que em cal a Gentoo.
Ja he configurat i compilat el kernel de Gentoo amb aquest mòdul però res, no el carrega al reiniciar 🤔
I had never encountered this. The closest I've seen Linux go towards BSD is #gentoo. TBH, Chimera looks like the devil's play thing. "Why did you build this?" "Because -- llvm."
GRUB 2.12 was just marked as stable in #Gentoo and my patches still apply. It's time I finally write a blog post - or wiki page - to explain how to make custom kernels work with Secure Boot on GRUB without too much hassle

Jest sobie paczka Pythona o nazwie #WatchDog. Dostarcza API do "monitorowania zdarzeń systemu plików", i jest używana przez kilka innych paczek. Dawniej jedną z nich był #uvicorn.
W roku 2020, uvicorn zastąpił zależność od WatchDoga paczką #WatchGod. Jeżeli dobrze pamiętam, nic innego w #Gentoo nie używało nigdy WatchGoda.
W roku 2022, WatchGoda porzucono, a właściwie przepisano w Ruście jako #WatchFiles. Oczywiście, uvicorn podążył za tą zmianą, i usunięto wsparcie WatchGoda (tak jak poprzednio usunięto wsparcie WatchDoga) na rzecz WatchFiles.
Dziś, WatchFiles używane jest przez 2 paczki w Gentoo: uvicorn i pelican. Ma znaną niezgodność z anyio >= 4, która nie doczekała się reakcji autora już drugi miesiąc. Wydaje się, jakby projekt WatchFiles był porzucony.
W międzyczasie, WatchDog doczekał się kilka dni temu kolejnego wydania, i wciąż nie sprawia żadnych problemów.
Paczka Pythona #regex (nie mylić z wbudowanym modułem re) zbudowana jest w oparciu o szczegóły implementacji CPythona i nie obsługuje poprawnie #PyPy (i autor zapowiada, że może w końcu zablokować kompilację na PyPy). Jednakże wygląda na to, że wymagająca jej paczka #ReAssert działa bez problemów ze zwyczajnym re.
Dzisiaj #Gentoo przechodzi z łatania w sposób niedoskonały paczki regex, i ignorowania szczególnych przypadków, w których nie zadziała, na rzecz łatania re-assert. Chciałbym wysłać tę trywialną łatkę autorowi, ale — jak już wcześniej narzekałem — dostałem niegdyś bana, autor nie potrafi powiedzieć dlaczego, ale nie przeszkadza mu to uważać bana za sprawiedliwego. Może po prostu proaktywnie banuje devów dystrybucji Linuksa.

Jeśli coś ma opcjonalne zależności to zwykle wciągało się je ustawiając lokalną flagę use i ta zależność leciała w pierony po wyrzuceniu tego co to je potrzebował. To serio spoko rozwiązanie, ale ostatnio widuję jak niżej co znajduję jako zły objaw.
Mam sobie notatkę zrobić, że jak jednak wywalę bashtop to on mi kazał to całe sysstat wciągać? Kto tu jest komputer, ja czy komputer? :D
May I present my #chromebook that runs #gentoo#linux which only took 2 days to compile everything and install? Currently installing xorg and xinit and it’s taking a while. This Chromebook has an Intel Celeron n2840 with 2GB of RAM and 14GB of space. I am not kidding. Yet Gentoo somehow still installed.
