My annual #NordVPN subscription is coming due for renewal and I’ve been quite satisfied with their product, however I’m always interested in what smart folks are using out there. What’s the skinny on #ProtonVPN or other alternatives?
I'm probably going to change my VPN provider since #NordVPN wants to raise my subscription fee by almost 200%. Any recommendations? Main criteria are speed and client compatibility with Linux, iOS, MacOS.
Fixed: it was #NordVPN
Turned it off, then on again and all is well again. But no, I have to leave it off.
It only affected Mastodon, oddly.
media cannot be loaded load media remotely
I can't see images on mastodon today. it seems to be across servers. Tusky and Fedilab show the above message, (see the first screenshot). Media sometimes won't load when I tap on Load Media Remotely .
The Mastodon default app shows no text, just the blurry shape you see in the second screenshot.
I really get annoyed that RPM packages are not commonly supported and that converting a DEB package into an RPM isn't always straightforward or guaranteed.

@arstechnica A very small part of me feels like the VPN companies have some crazy lobby group going around making a bunch of stupid ass laws which will push people toward VPNs.

Wondering about Proton Mail

I am wondering about how practical a switch it would be. We have domain emails and Gmail addresses, use Gmail interface. #ProtonMail
I see it includes a VPN but my subscription to #nordVPN lasts another year.
Has anyone done the switch who is prepared to chime in with thoughts?
Sorry #VPN wie es momentan beworben wird war noch nie Sicher und ein klarer #MITM und nur bei den wenigsten Anbietern auch vertrauenswürdig - Da sind ganz dubiose & gruselige Firmengeflechte im Hintergrund. Dann kommen ein paar #Dumps und bestätigen deine Befürchtungen. VPN macht durch aus Sinn in einem #Business#Netzwerk aber eben nicht so.

Thank you @dumbpasswordrules for your clarification and how NordVPN is not a secure tool. How many times do I have to mention that this is not security. To consume something country restricted is again (a little) different but also no privacy preserved.
