Back when I was writing on @boingbot, I'd slam out 10-15 blog posts every day, short hits that served as signpost and public notebook, but I rarely got into longer analysis of the sort I do daily now on Pluralistic. Both modes are very useful for organizing one's thoughts, and indeed, they complement each other:
Remember when Amazon promised you ad-free video if you'd lock yourself into shopping with them by pre-paying for a year's shipping with #Prime? The company has fully embraced the #DarthVaderMBA: "I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it further."
The largest known prime number, known as M82589933, is 24,862,048 digits long and can be calculated by multiplying together 82,589,933 twos and then subtracting one.
Hoping someone can help me with this annoying little app problem.
I’m using the Prime Video app on iPhone, using Voiceover. Prime has a feature where you can add programmes to a Watch List, but the problem following recent updates is that I can no longer find my Watch List in order to access my favourite programmes quickly.
Does anyone know where the Watch List has been hidden?
Thanks. #Accessibility#Amazon#Prime
My Amazon Fire TV just performed a large update. Big enough that the update screen didn't even show the Amazon or Toshiba logo.
For a moment, I got worried it would fail. It rebooted and didn't turn back on itself (powered off instead). When I finally powered it back on manually, it took a while, and even after the display finally came on, it kept "thinking" with the red standby light cycling.
That is the downside of owning a smart TV. The fear that an update could brick it.
The ironic thing is, I do not even use the "smart" portion of my TV since buying a Google Chromecast.
I discovered Amazon makes poor recommendations and would often suggest I buy movies that I either already owned digitally or movies I could watch for free already included with the app I already had installed (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, ect...). 🙄
Amazon is first a store and they do not let you forget that. At one time, the TV wanted me to buy a movie that was free through Prime 🙄
Owning a smart TV and opting into the paid subscription, only to end up using your computer to use the subscription, because the TV insists you purchase things that is included with your Prime Membership.
I factory reset my Amazon TV and have not logged back in ever since.
I bought myself both a Google Chromecast and a Roku Premium. Both work better than Amazon. I would not recommend buying an Amazon TV.
Wish streaming services would make it easier to mark episodes or movies as watched or unwatched.
Want to rewatch season 1 of Wheel of Time on #Prime - but the interface keeps trying to get us to watch the first episode of season 2 and makes it hard to reset the earlier episodes.
Or on #Disney where movies get stuck in our "continue watching" list even though we've watched it all.
Worked in post for this film. A huge learning experience for me and I was not even the head of post. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of these type of projects. #amillionmilesaway#prime#postproduction
Watching #ModernLove on #Prime - really enjoying it so far, just finished the #bipolar episode - don’t know how accurate it was or not but it was powerful stuff
If you can't determine, with the same level of certainty as any sixth grader, whether 17077 is #prime, then you are neither intelligent organically OR artificially.
Neil Gaiman is adapting Samuel Delany's Nova to a TV series apparently?
This is one of the very few American SF novels that has a major character who's Romani (Pontichos Provechi, the Mouse), so I really hope they will in fact hire a Romani actor to play him....
According to both Target and Amazon, the physical version of the latest Transformers film won’t be released until October 10th, almost 3 months after the film released on home digital. That means you will have to wait a bit longer to add either the DVD, Blu-ray, or the 4K UHD Blu-ray to your collections.
This year we decided to never order anything from Amazon ever again. All the useless garbage I'm seeing in various feeds on Prime Day show me that was the right move.
Honestly I thought I'd miss the convenience. But the quality of every product was so shitty that it made searching for something not terrible take forever. It's actually faster and easier and cheaper to not buy crap I don't need 🤣.
@ZachWeinersmith Wow, the hardcover of Bea Wolf is actually cheaper than the Kindle copy on the #Amazon#Prime Day sale... I'm usually a digital-first sort, but that one was too good to resist!
