Most of the interesting content is still on #Twitter, but the platform is unusable. Full of bots, trolls and Nazis (and physics deniers ofc) since the #ElonMusk takeover, the last straw was the implementation of a #RateLimit because the richest man on earth cannot pay his server bills. Still using, but for read only - the only button I'm still using is the block button.
Now there is #Threads by #Meta which is all you need to know. Other than on Twitter there is no way to avoid the algorithm and just see posts by those you follow. And they want all your data and more, because it's Meta. Not an option.
Will stick with #Mastodon even though it's still so quiet here compared to those other platforms.
Would love to #crosspost to Twitter at least but all the tools for this have stopped to work.
Well, my problem is that I open TweetDeck in the morning, leave it running for the whole day, and occasionally switch to it during down time to see what's going on. Which is exactly how I use Mastodon, incidentally.
So unless I close and specifically re-open TweetDeck during the day instead of just leaving it open the whole time (I ain't doing that; it defeats the point) I'll hit 600 tweets by 10:00.
@GrahamDowns I've been on Twitter since the fail whale days, lived through the big ID format change as they approached the limits of using a single bigint field, and not once in all that time has Twitter had the need to cap the amount of tweets being served.
The entire purpose of Twitter is to get eyeballs on tweets, to drive CPM revenue. Even with Blue, the same purpose remains (justifying the $8) purchase.
@GrahamDowns This #RateLimit is even worse, because in a few days from now, Blue users (already miffed about their low engagement) are going to see a catastrophic drop in views, likes and retweets.
If they don't see that (ie, if Twitter just starts straight-up lying to them about reach) they'll be setting themselves up for another lawsuit.
Plus, the "can't even serve content" issue will make any advertiser think twice about committing any spend to the platform.

The #RateLimit brings all the birds to the 'don
And they're like "Is anyone on?"
Damn right, post to #introduction
We can boost you but don't say Elon

Remove free API access, creates a verified system which encourages other users to block verified accounts automatically via browser extension, apply #RateLimit and complain about data scrapping and system manipulation. #Twitter win!!
My god, Elon is actually completely destroying twitter... 600 tweets a day, that's like 30 minutes of scrolling through your timeline if they count "tweet" as one api request... #twitter#twitterdown#ratelimit
