I took a walk down to sparkly Union Square. It was filled with happy people ice skating, taking pics, standing in line at Miller & Lux for fancy pastries, and riding the cable cars. The weather was mild and pleasant. You could spot the tourists, because they're all bundled up as if they're going to a Giants game. 😂 #UnionSquare#UnionSquareSF#SanFranciscoHellscape
It beggars belief that the town I finished high school in (pop 19,000) had a ban on wood-burning fireplaces as early as the 1980s, yet San Francisco continues to allow them. #SanFranciscoHellscape#AirPollutionEdition
I really don’t understand user-hostile infrastructure like this in SF’s public parks. The main argument I’ve heard is that it’s to stop certain classes of visitor from ruining other visitors’ experience, but stereotyping one specific user group (skaters, in this example) is just old-fashioned bigotry.
Not to mention that this kind of (dubious) strategy isn’t even applied evenly. The worst experiences I’ve had in our public parks have almost entirely involved dogs, but I don’t see anti-dog infrastructure anywhere (heck, I don’t even see respect for, or enforcement of, existing dog regulations most of the time). #SanFranciscoHellscape#HostileInfrastructureEdition#ShowerThoughts
Am I the only one surprised to learn that #SanFrancisco residents get free Saturday admission to the #DeYoungMuseum on Saturdays? And it is the summer of music with bands playing in neighborhoods throughout the city! I’m excited to get out and enjoy the #SanFranciscoHellscape!
Idly wondering/fantasizing whether all the bullshit “SF is a Hellhole” press will help keep the schmucks from coming here, drive rents down, and let the artists, queer folk, & original denizens retake (& remake) the city (against all the wishes of our increasingly right-swinging, corruption-rife local gov—ok, corruption isn’t new) #DreamsAreMadeOfThis#SanFranciscoHellscape#SanFrancisco
