I bookmarked this #Publishing article that basically asks, what are we paying trad pub for? While I do have an agent, an amazing one, actually! I'll be with this agent until he retires, no author should ever, ever, ever! Make a mood board of your submission! Your agent is your mood board! This would be a fantastic time for a non-discriminatory publishing cooperative to form right now. I know about Book view Cafe but they don't want blind writers like me or other blind writers. I hate self publishing. Seriously, I can't express how much I detest the self publishing process. Just because I have an agent, though, publishing is rough right now! Genuine question for #WritersOfMastodon - with the rise of AI generated everything, is it now possible to be published by an actual publisher? I'd heard it was virtually impossible before AI but presumably they're now inundated by manuscripts that are either part or fully AI creations. I ask because I always assumed I'd write my great novel one day, but it seems vanishingly unlikely now. I have 2 brothers who's father was a successful author, although he had his foot in the door via being a reporter (who brought down Concorde and was the only person ever allowed to interview/write a book about Pablo Escobar), so was already semi-famous and had contacts. I met a published author the other week, but she's a proof-reader for Penguin books, so also has a foot in the door. I assume that if you write something you're happy with, you no longer just send it to publishers and hope they read? Interested to know if anyone has had any success with this or if everyone self-publishes now.
Well, well, it seems like a couple of users (possibly bots) have been going around Goodreads dropping 1-star ratings on self-published books. Mine was one of the targets and now my book is sitting at 1 star :')
I reported the accounts. Hopefully, Goodreads will do something about it because it's not fair that I or any other author suffer because of this harassment.
So. Endlich hab ich Band 7 auf den Weg gebracht. Das Cover bekommt noch den letzten Schliff, das Buch sollte pünktlich zum 1.März erscheinen. Mit den üblichen kleinen Hakeleien am Anfang vermutlich …
Leider mußte ich noch um ein Fuffzgerl raufgehen auf €14,49 für 302 Seiten, so bleiben mir grad mal 97 Cent ☹️ . Das eBook wird bei 2,99 liegen wie gehabt. Da muß ich zum Glück nicht teurer werden.
