So very pleased with how this bag came out. If I was ever to make it again, I would have matched the brown leather top stitching thread. I thought I'd like the contrast look, and I don't hate it, but matching hides a multitude of sins.
Still, this piece is a beautiful bag that is going to last me a long time.
Harris Tweed (did you know it's a protected fabric, like champagne?) and leather. With a fun canvas lining.
Decided to just go ahead and get the reusable bowl covers done. Super simple project that only took a few hrs.
They're all lined with a foodsafe waterproof lining. Yes, plastics but I'm hoping it means I actually have to wash them less because a little rinse with gentle soap in the sink should be enough for most things.
Made one for each one of the three nesting bowls. Might make a second set, as I have two sets of bowls (one with spouts)
This level of organization for sewing makes me so happy.
Each piece is clipped (color coded Wonder Clips) to a label.
Pattern pieces waiting are clipped to the labels. And some assorted leather has been clipped to pattern pieces, waiting to be cut.
Fun fact about Harris Tweed. It's actually protected, like champagne. The only fabric to have that distinction. There's also rules regarding the size label you can use based on how much fabric is used.
Shirts are all done minus cutting out the buttonholes (the fray check is drying) and sewing buttons on.
Feels good getting them all done, I didn't think I was going to manage it.
DEFINITELY out of practice with the button holes, forgot some best practices so they're a little not entirely in a straight line. But oh well, adds to the charm? Or something? Very grateful for the automatic buttonholer on my machine.
Rain has made the light terrible til now, but I spent all of yesterday afternoon sewing and made my son a Dopp kit for all of the testosterone shot stuff.
There's a lot of stuff and I wanted them to have a nice way to lug it around. I ordered some small sharps shuttles too so they can keep one in there.
It's been so nice getting back sewing again. There's a real zen to it.
Bag is real leather, with a bee print on the inside cuz son is NBeeeeeee hehe.
So #Introductions! I’m not a heavy poster, but lean mostly towards #SciCom and pictures of the #wildlife I spot in my backyard. It’s practically NatGeo up in this central #FL backyard.
