about the Pi chatbot;

https://pi.ai/talk

I'm grudgingly impressed. Here's the quick test I did.

Me: Are machine learning algorithms a robust way to create AI?

Pi: Machine learning algorithms are definitely a powerful tool for creating AI. They allow computers to learn from data, rather than being explicitly programmed, which can lead to more flexible and adaptable AI systems. However, like any technology, machine learning is not a silver bullet.

I have some Shortcuts automations on iOS that speak text, and sometimes the voice is very quiet, and sometimes it shouts at me at full volume, and adjusting the device volume has no effect on it. Well, you can tell Siri, “Set your volume to 40” (the number is a percentage of the max volume), and that affects the automation speech level. Problem solved!

There are a lot of dead "pixels" on JWST's NIRSpec Micro Shutter Array. Every "pixel" is actually a tiny MEMS shutter with moving parts and there are 249,660 of them, so making a defect-free one is impractical. The most amusing part is that the ground control plans to repower short-circuited "pixels" every now and then to fix some by burning contaminants away.

: There are two formats to put something in /etc/apt/sources.list.d: The one-line format that most people know about, and the multi-line "Deb822" format.

With the latter, you can simply add the ascii-armored version of the repo's OpenPGP key into the same file!

Take care to indent the key by one space. The empty line after "BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK" is mandatory and needs to contain a single dot. And the filename has to end in ".sources".

See sources.list(5) and deb822(5) for details.

that the term "cyberflashing" exists;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberflashing

As with "cyberbullying" or any other neologism created by adding "cyber" to the start, I think it would be better to just stick with the un-prefixed term. Adding "online" or "digital" or other qualifying terms as appropriate to the usage.

Why? Because these terms imply these are new problems, specific to the net. Whereas they're just the same old problems, using into digital means.
