ICYMI: if you are a textile artist, you might appreciate this piece by Elena Kanagy-Loux.

When will art institutions finally pay respect to our foremothers’ artistry?"

My this week is tracking down this historic lace pricking [the paper or parchment with the pin holes for our pattern].

Found in Gertrude Whiting's "Tools and toys of stitchery" from 1928.

I found the ship--it is an Edward Savage rare print from 1799. I couldn't believe it. Anyone with insights--please share.

Might be that I already shared it here since time ago. But I love this video so, so much. Those ladies are just delightful. And let's celebrate it - this is now 60 years old. How things have changed. And haven't changed.

And I'm in total awe about their skill as both spinner and knitter.

Hey historians: do you have any links on embroidery? This remarkable piece just showed up on reddit and I've never seen anything like it.

And I trawl a lot of museum archives.

So for folks who do and historical crafts: if you were asked by a small museum for your "daily rate", what would be a good number?

I don't want to undercut craftspeople who do this for income. And I don't want to make it out of reach for a small museum.

This is in New England, US--near Boston.

Any ideas? Pointers?

Someone challenged me to make the page better in , so I started to work on it today.

Still needs work, but it's no longer in the mid anymore. Now with color! Current projects! Modern art!

A selection of colourful and beautiful tablet woven braids made by Heidi Shaw of Gragas Textiles. The braids are made of wool, and laid on a wooden stump. They show various repeating patterns, including a woven pattern of a multi-stranded plait, like celtic knotwork, and repeating swirling and interlocking patterns. The colours are red, blue, yellow and two shades of grey, and look to be achieved by natural dyes. Image copyright Heidi Shaw.

For those interested in , I have wrested control of the previously cancelled r/Lace subreddit and it's going to get better.

Open to adding some co-mods so it doesn't get lost again, too. If you are on reddit, come on by.
