Whenever I explain my #research at Google into mobile text editing, I'm usually met with blank stares or a slightly hostile "Everyone can edit text on their phones, right? What's the problem?"
Text editing on mobile isn't ok. It's actually much worse than you think, an invisible problem no one appreciates. I wrote this post so you can understand why it's so important. https://jenson.org/text #UXDesign#UX
Choice paralysis is the phenomenon where users, when presented with too many options, become overwhelmed and often struggle to make a decision. In UX, this could manifest in users spending excessive time on a page without performing any significant action or completely abandoning a task due to being overwhelmed with choices.
When users go to your website, they want to browse it*. All features that compete with that goal (welcome tours, chatbot widgets, FAQ pages, content carousels) degrade the browsing experience.
Fix your website's navigation and content, rather than relying on poor bandaid solutions.

yes, strictly speaking they have a goal in mind, but their mental model is that browsing the website will achieve that goal for them
Web developers: If you can't stop your stakeholders from making you put a "live help" or "May I help you?" chat(bot) widget on your site, see if you can at least get them to agree that if the user has already dismissed it X times (like say 3), you should stop showing it anymore.
Or, try suggesting X be 1 time, and let them talk you down to 3.
My lovely wife is looking for her first job as #ux and #ui#designer and I would deeply appreciate a boost (here or on #LinkedIn) if you know someone who might be interested in hiring her.
I switched industries a couple years ago and it's tough to find your first job without any proper experience, took me 5 months. Maybe it will be faster for her. 🙂
There is a consistent undercurrent in business thinking: the belief that there are Thinkers and Users, and all relevant knowledge on Users can and should be obtained by asking Thinkers, because Users lack perspective. This has obvious parallels to "empathy" in #designthinking where people gather in a room to make assumptions about what people outside of that room might want.
Needless to say, these approaches lead to bad decisions. There is no such thing as a user proxy.
🔍 Hot on the heels of Judo 3 we've shipped another release which brings new ways to navigate canvas: Pan, Zoom to Fit and Zoom to Selection. If you're a Sketch or Figma user you should feel right at home.
When I click on a hashtag in #Tusky I see a "mute" icon every time. Even for hashtags I've never seen before.
Clicking the icon gives me a "speaker" icon with the ALT text "unmute".
These are backwards (imo). The icon should indicate the CURRENT status, not the desired status. #UXdesign#UI#UX
I feel like such an old man, yelling about the problems with the label "UX/UI designer" but every time I post, I get people agreeing it's totally awful and how much confusion it creates.
So I'm encouraged to continue as if it's so bad, then why in hell do we keep using it? #UX#UI#Design#UXDesign
