@marialeal They really do seem to get sick all the time. Mine have got just a little under 5 weeks of school before summer break, and I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to them being away from the germ factory of their schools. They almost never get sick when they're not around hundreds of other kids day in and day out.
@Vivaldi Thank you! I also just completed the survey regarding the Privacy Guard feature. I've upgraded to the 3329.9 version, and it seems all the issues I initially had with it in the previous release have been addressed. It's such a handy feature, I hope to see it in stable in the future.
@MrJMGregory Any instance worth their salt has a TOS that helps to establish what is and isn't tolerated for members. When someone joins a fediverse instance, they agree to those terms. So when server owners see the reasons for blocking @ noauthority.social (below), it's pretty evident why all instances are not the same. It's a toleration thing.
Am I the only one having problems with the #VivaldiBrowser password manager only sharing usernames and not passwords when I activate it as a password manager for my #iPhone#iPad?
I have had this for months and there seems to be no fix. 🤔
@Vivaldi Sup, Vivaldi Social on android is kinda weird, i tried dark mode, light mode, cache clean and nothing realy works, can someone help? #VivaldiSocial
Some new social media services have opened up. I am recommending to artists that they create accounts on each of the following three. Whether or not you plan to use all (or any) of these, you will have reserved your professional name.
Time will tell which social tools stay around, but these do look promising.
Bluesky Social opened to all in early 2024. The code, designed by Twitter founders, is open source and will federate like Mastodon. Some users are already working on bridge code to get Bluesky and Mastodon protocols interacting with each other.
The Mastodon fediverse is well established. Open source, no ads, multiple servers appealing to multiple communities.
You can create a Mastodon account easily through Vivaldi Social. The interface is clean. The Vivaldi server is in Iceland, so privacy standards are EU.
Threads launched in late 2023. Meta (Mark Zuckerberg empire) has Threads playing very nicely with Instagram (also Zuck). In time (Zuck says) Threads will integrate with the Mastodon fediverse.

I'm thrilled to see @Vivaldi included Mastodon Bird UI in Vivaldi Social. :bunhdheart:
"We’ve added two new sets of custom themes — Tangerine UI and Mastodon Bird UI. Both themes flip the interface to display the menu on the left side of the feed, keeping the posting and searching options on the right side."
@rolle@Vivaldi Unfortunately, the new layouts appear to be broken in panels mode, as the nav bar moves to the bottom of the panel and overflows offscreen unless the panel is very wide (which sort of defeats the purpose). I had to load into the full website to revert back to a panel friendly layout.
@Vivaldi
Is it likely that Vivaldi.social would be enabling Mastodon translating capabilities?
As an English only speaker, one of the cool features of Mastodon is being able to follow people from all over the world, and I follow a lot of German speakers (and for some reason, Finnish as well. And Czech. And Malaysian).
@bluewave
Yes, we want to enable the translation feature as soon as possible, but we need to sort out a few things first.
If you also use the Vivaldi browser, you could use the built-in translation tool for the time being. Just highlight the text you want to translate, right-click on it and select "Translate Selection". On desktop, you can also enable a Translate button to be displayed, whenever you've selected some text in Settings > Webpages.
On this day one year ago we opened our #Mastodon instance, #VivaldiSocial. The first browser company to do so. 🎉
We believe a distributed, open standards, non-tracking #SocialNetwork is a better solution than the current popular social networks which build massive profiles on users and contribute to division and hate.
We’re happy to be part of the #Fediverse and are grateful that more than 40 000 people have chosen Vivaldi Social as their home. 🏠
