The wife and I decided to go ahead and mow all 4 yards today since our next door neighbor was going down to mow his sisters yard(3 houses down). That way we get everything mowed, can do the weed eating and everything else before we go on vacation next week.
It was a bit hot, but not too terribly bad. Though it's only going to get much hotter over the coming months.
Good morning and happy Saturday to all of you here in the #Fediverse
It's the weekend so let's all discuss our plans for the day, the weekend and the upcoming holiday tomorrow for those that celebrate.
I will likely mow 3 out of the 4 lawns I mow all summer long. One doesn't need it yet. Other than that, it'll just be a weekend to rest and relax as much as possible.
I figured it up and turns out I have pushed that gas powered mower on the right the equivalent of almost two trips to the moon and back.
The mower on the left is battery powered. I bought that one since I already have 2 #Stihl AP-300 batteries and the charger (for chainsaws). If I was starting from scratch maybe I would have got a different make/model battery powered mower - don’t know.
And now a word from the arm that has been pulling the starting cord ’lo these many years - Hallelujah! #yardwork
Picked up a truck load of mulch and a truck load of top soil and refreshed each of them in our planters around the house.
Looks so much nicer that it's fresh and full. Some plants were already coming up in the planter in the back with the metal sunflower, but they will push through the new dirt.
Going to try and plant some new stuff in the round planter around the tree in the front.
It's Monday, so let's find out what we all have planned for the day and the week ahead.
For me, it's work stuff as usual with a meeting at 12pm EST. After that, I'll be heading out with my neighbor to go pick up a truck load of mulch and dirt so we can redo the planters and the mulch around the bushes along the front sidewalk.
Tonight is Fortnite with friends as is usual for a Monday.
Good evening everyone, hope you had a good Sunday! After our trip to the Botanical Gardens we did a couple hours of yardwork, the joys of home ownership. I did have time for a contemplative walk around the lake while listening to my audiobook. Overall a wonderful weekend.
Now I'm patiently waiting for mashed potatoes and pork loin, my Sunday evening dinner.
I decided to tear my garden down early this year. My tomatoes were becoming bland due to the cold weather lately. I'm also giving composting a try. I hope it pays off with wonderful nutritious soil next spring. Gomez decided he needed to help keep the tarp from blowing away.
It's that time of year where I start cleaning up apples that have fallen. We don't have any apple trees on our property but there are 7 on our neighbours yards so I'm pretty happy my wife found this tool a few years ago. You simply roll it over the fallen fruit and it collects them. When the cage is full I take it to our compost bin and pull the wires apart to let the apples drop out. So easy my wife could do it .... but she never does.
The neighbor who lives two houses down and the neighbor across the street decided it was time to mow their yards, so I decided it was time for me to go ahead and mow all four yards as well since they were doing theirs.
It's always nice seeing several yards together that are mowed and looking nice. So all 5 yards on my side of the street were mowed today, as I mowed 3 of them, plus I mowed the yard of the neighbor behind me.
Next door neighbor was out back in the shed and I asked him what he was about to do. He said he was going to do the weed eating, so I told him I'd mow since I needed to mow all four yards any way. Especially ours since I have family coming over for July 4th.
Wife helped and it only took us just over an hour or so to do all 4 yards, weed eat, trimming and blowing everything off.
After spending nearly 20 years in an apartment, being in a house with a yard is so weird. Like, how do you actually plant things in the ground? I get how to use pots and window boxes and raised beds, but like… in the shitty dirt in my front yard? Am I supposed to use potting soil? Fertilizer? Just stick the plant in the ground and hope? #gardening#plants#yardwork#gardens#planting
