Hey #Bands and #Musicians! Since this coming #BandcampFriday is the last one for a while, I am going to be doing some writeups for it. If you have a #song or two you want me to check out, say some nice things about, and post for all my followers, send me a link. You can just reply to this post for easy reference.
Years ago, I started a 'bands I've seen live' list to try and remember shows I'd been to and what years they were. But it got lost. So I started a new one the other day on a spreadsheet and I named it the accurate title 'bands I've seen live (even the ones I hated)'. I'm not gonna share it here quite yet (has anyone else done one of these?) aaaand it's also not quite done. Memory's hazy! I'm up to 101 bands. Wild. Some of the bands I saw multiple times. Still need to work out some of the years/venues (to see how much remembering that sucks, and to see if I want to document all of that).
Anyway, it's been a fun and interesting project so far. Time is so strange. Sometimes things seem more or less recent than they actually were.
I saw #Dethklok and #BabyMetal Live last Thursday. Dethklok is already one of my favorite #bands so I expected to love them, but now I am literally obsessed with BabyMetal. At first I thought they were just a novelty, but the juxtaposition of cute #Jpop vocals and every sub genre of #metal you can think of is lighting up all the pleasure centers of my brain. #SuMetal's vocals are incredible and give me a similar emotional reaction to the #NierAutomata soundtrack.
By the way: If you know #metal or #rock bands that you would like to have here in the metalhead.club or in the #Fediverse, just write to them and invite them to the metalhead.club!
Some #bands - especially the smaller ones - can simply be contacted via their homepage via e-mail. Or via other social media channels.
Admittedly, the likelihood of a band wanting to use another social media channel is understandably rather low for many. But maybe we can convince one or the other band!
Oasis have dropped a hint that they may be getting back together after their split 15 years ago. The iconic Britpop band, fronted by battling brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, posted a cryptic video on X, with no explanation. Some fans believe it means new live gigs or music. Others are convinced it's aerial footage of Sawmill Studio in Cornwall, where Oasis recorded their debut, "Definitely Maybe," and that the video teases a 30th anniversary reissue. Here's the NME with more details.
As we await clarification, here's a fun question: It's now 25 years since Blur's "Country House" and Oasis's "Roll With It" went head to head for the U.K. No. 1 spot. Most folk agree that the tunes themselves weren't the best examples of the bands' work, but a quarter-of-a-century on, which do you think is the iconic Britpop act?
Some of y’all may know that for many years I was a full-time drummer in metal, hardcore, and punk bands. Before fatherhood, that was my entire life.
A couple of years ago a long-time fan of one of my bands who is also a record-company owner asked if he could reissue our music. 26 years after we broke up.
It’s an interesting story. I thought you might like it.
I never understood the #metalcore#bashing
Yes, I was and I am a metalcore guy so probably I'm biased. But statements like: metalcore is not #metal is simply bullshit. There are a lot of #bands out there with really high skills on their respective instruments.
Another one regarding #breakdown : I can tell you from first hand that it's more demanding on the #doublebass than a continuous passage in the same tempo.
It's okay if you don't like it, we're all different. 🤷🏻♂
Definitely the #movie I have seen more than any other probably more than 50x and the best concert movie/band movie ever. Go ahead and try and argue by posting your fav.
I just checked out the lineup for the big outdoor #festival near me and it's like...

Millennial Punk – Eine Subkultur in Zeiten der Digitalisierung
In den 90er-Jahren wurde der Punk für tot erklärt, dabei ging es für die Generation der Millennials damals erst richtig los. In dem Vierteiler performen 69 Szene-Akteur*innen, u.a. Bands wie die Donots, Akne Kid Joe und Die Toten Hosen über Tamagotchis, illegale Downloads und politischen Widerstand. Punk’s not dead!

Punk Girls – Die weibliche Geschichte des britischen Punk:
Als Musikerinnen wie Poly Styrene mit X-Ray Spex, Viv Albertine mit The Slits und Gina Birch mit The Raincoats Mitte der 1970-er Jahre Punk-Bands gründeten, gab es kaum weibliche Vorbilder. So wurden sie selbst welche. Eine mitreissende Frauengeschichte des Punk.
