"..I expected to see a bunch of groggy children. Instead, the atmosphere was more like a festival. Kids sported fluorescent bike helmets with mohawks. Girls zoomed around their parents in princess costumes. One mom distributed doughnut holes to waiting children. Every few minutes, more cargo bikes arrived ferrying very young children while older siblings cruised alongside.
Then the music turned on. Someone started a bubble machine. Finally, a cry went up, and our impromptu caravan began rolling down one of San Francisco’s leafy residential streets." #BikeTooter#BikeBus#education#school#cycling
" Between 1970 and 1990, the federal government devoted roughly $20 billion per year for roads and highways in inflation-adjusted dollars while allocating just about $3 million annually to bicycle and pedestrian projects, roughly 10,000 times less." #BikeTooter#infrastructure#BikeBus#climateemergency

Yesterday morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EJZLrkHGMU (Cambridge Bike Bus + Band, me with a photographer sitting backwards on my longtail). The ride was slow and nearly technical, given the low speed, load, kids to not hit, and the parked cars that I managed not to scratch.
Apologies if it comes with advertising, I'm over my weekly upload quota at Vimeo so that will happen next week if I remember.
"Today~130 people joined the Peabody/RAUC #bikeBus celebrated #NationalBikeToSchoolDay with our very own marching band by bike, courtesy of members of the School of HONK. Only the @bikepedantic mastermind could conceive and pull this off. Best Bike Bus ever."
Found myself behind the Bergen Bike Bus on my way to work this morning. It’s such a cool thing these parents are doing. Everyone having fun. Great vibes.
Today we are very excited to introduce you to a group of climate-conscious activists who have created an educational program that teaches and exercises and creates a fun experience for kids: #BikeBus 🚲 🚌
Welcome to the April 12th BikeNite! Thanks for joining, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about cycle stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
We'll start out with our introduction, inspired by comment from @rodbotic:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? What does a typical ride for you look like? Share a photo if you'd like. #BikeNite#BikeNiteQ
@rodbotic A1. My answer coincides with my #30DaysOfBiking posting, which I am a couple of days behind on. Luckily I'm just behind on the posting, rather than the riding.
Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at Portland State University is conducting a study on #BikeBus. They are looking for parents of bike bus participants share their experience with the Bike Bus.
If you are the parent of child who has participated in a bike bus, please complete a short, 10-question survey: https://portlandstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2ctcmjYCw9NFoq2
@ascentale confirmed this is open to all parents of #bikeBus riders, though there is a question asking for pdx-area parents if they would like to be contacted for later interviews
