In the early morning on Otter Creek in the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia, the peaceful atmosphere was soothing. The warm brown hues under the morning light created a unique and charming view, different from the usual mountain scenery on the Parkway.
Wow, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia was truly breathtaking! We had to screech to a halt (safely!) and pull over when we saw the sun shining through the dark gray clouds, creating spotlights over the valley. It was a surreal sight!
Rock Castle Gorge is one of my favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. Many people hike the 10.5 mile loop through here and I've heard it's a strenuous trail that will take most of the day. But the views are fantastic! Rock Castle Gorge is at Mile Post 168.6, less than 10 miles from Mabry Mill.

I couldn't have been happier to capture the beauty of Mabry Mill in the misty early morning rain. The weather kept the crowds away, allowing me to take many stunning photographs. My husband visited later in the day and it was so busy that he had to park in the overflow lot.
The Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia is a stunning sight after a snowstorm. Unlike typical snow scenes, this image is not monochromatic. The blue sky and the blue in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance add vibrant colors to the picture.
Good morning from Virginia! The first time in 2024 up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s 45F this morning and a bit breezy on the mountain. Rain is coming in this afternoon. What a gorgeous morning! Have a blessed day!
An accident while out photographing nature can happen to anyone. Here's what I learned after I had a hard fall recently and what I did to help prevent further mishaps.
It is important to always be mindful of your surroundings. In this case, I was looking ahead to my next shot and I didn't lift my foot high enough to get over the short little wooden fence. It could have been so much worse! I was lucky!

In the early morning sun of late winter, Mabry Mill shines beautifully with a brilliant reflection of the blue sky, trees, and the mill itself in the calm pond water. You can find prints and more of this stunning scene in my gallery.
I had an early morning adventure at the Saddle Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The journey took longer than expected, but I arrived just in time to witness the sun rising over the horizon. The brightness of the sun inspired me to capture the silhouette of an old tree.
I was out on the Blue Ridge Parkway after a snowstorm & spotted these tracks when I'd gotten out of the car for a different shot. The view was breathtaking! It reminded me that on the road of life, if we don't stop to take the time to look around, we might miss something wonderful.
I love the feeling of being surrounded by the mist while driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway when the clouds are low and swiftly moving with the wind. It makes me feel like I'm on top of the world, immersed in nature's beauty.
It was a mesmerizing morning at the overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The sky was filled with a display of high and low clouds, casting a serene blue hue over the landscape. The wind gracefully moved the clouds around, creating a captivating moving picture show.
I had an exhilarating experience at the Otter Creek Dam on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The dam had round flat stepping stones for crossing Otter Creek, but I was nervous about falling into the shallow water with my camera. Despite my lack of coordination, I managed to make it halfway across. What a view!
