Wenn ich wieder anfange, Memes zu basteln, brennt es bei der #Chatkontrolle. Aber was wäre eine bessere Antwort als Memes, wenn wir jetzt mit der "Upload-Moderation" erpresst werden sollen, entweder der Chatkontrolle "freiwillig zuzustimmen" oder keine Photos und Videos mehr versenden zu dürfen.
Könnte vielleicht noch ein paar Referenzen zu Krah und Bystron vertragen, die sicherstellen, dass Putin’s und Xi’s Leute in der entsprechenden Behörde sitzen.

Sounds like a bad joke joke but the EU governing council wants to once again legislate #chatcontrol for it's 350 million citizens. According to @echo_pbreyer (EU parlamentarian) the legislation wants to force messengers to prevent users from sending images or videos unless they agree them to be scanned, AI-analyzed and potentially reported to police. They apparently want to bring it up for a council vote in two days and get it through parliament in June. @delegatevoid@echo_pbreyer It is easy to bring lots of technical arguments why #chatcontrol is a bad idea. But even if it were technically possible, it would be a catastrophic idea. No government should have an automated surveillance capability built into all private communications -- and images and videos are very much a core part of private communications. Pushing for such automated surveillance of private communications arguably surpasses Iran, Russia and other countries's control efforts.
🇩🇪 Meilenstein für Transparenz und Pressefreiheit: Britischer High Court lässt die Berufung von Wikileaks-Gründer Julian #Assange gegen seine Auslieferung an die USA zu, weil zweifelhaft ist, ob seine Meinungsfreiheit in den USA überhaupt geschützt ist.
Die heutige Gerichtsentscheidung gibt Hoffnung, dass europäische Menschenrechte und Gerichte die Aufdeckung von Unrecht, Machtmissbrauch, Korruption und Kriegsverbrechen schützen, ohne Freund und Feind mit zweierlei Maßstäben zu messen. Ich wünsche mir, dass aus der von den USA gewollten Abschreckung von Whistleblowern und Journalisten weltweit ihre Ermutigung durch ein Grundsatzurteil wird.

🇬🇧The British High Court today allowed Wikileaks founder Julian #Assange's appeal against his extradition to the US. This decision gives hope that European human rights and courts will protect the exposure of injustice, abuses of power, corruption and war crimes without applying double standards to friend and foe. I hope that instead of deterring whistleblowers and journalists worldwide, as intended by the USA, they will be encouraged by the US changing its mind, or a landmark judgement at the end of proceedings.
The fact that EU Commission President von der Leyen remains silent on the case is shameful, but indicative of the mother of #chatcontrol plans, who wants to keep her own official text messages with pharmaceutical companies secret. For me as a Pirate, #transparency of government action is the indispensable basis of any democracy.
🇬🇧 I am asking the Commission from what stage will #ChatControl apply to videogames? Think beta testing, small indie games, etc. : they will be more impacted by the mandatory algorithmic-monitoring of in-game chats than large studios.

A carta é arrasadora: as recentes mudanças no #ChatControl continuam a atacar a criptografia extremo-a-extremo nas comunicações.
Os cientistas começam por fazer notar que o impacto da proposta actual vai contra a decisão do Tribunal Europeu dos Direitos Humanos de 13 de Fevereiro de 2024, alertando que a proposta cria uma capacidade de vigilância e controlo das pessoas sem precedentes.
Afirmam que as medidas de deteção direcionadas não reduzem o risco de vigilância massiva: a tecnologia falha demasiado e o nº de pessoas inocentes (que enviam fotos ao médico, família, etc.) atingidas não será reduzido.
Só para uma plataforma, os cientistas estimam 1.4 milhões de falsos positivos, sublinhando que a nova proposta não resolve o problema da anterior.
Para executar estas medidas, é necessário monitorizar os dispositivos das pessoas. E uma vez implementado, é impossível garantir ou controlar o que está a ser monitorizado nos equipamentos de cada pessoa ou os critérios que acionam um alerta.
Agora que as eleições europeias se aproximam, queremos falar-vos de uma das iniciativas legislativas mais podres que temos memória, na União Europeia. A história requer algum estômago.

O #ChatControl obriga à vigilância massiva das mensagens privadas na Internet. Imagens enviadas seriam verificadas contra uma base de dados secreta. O conteúdo das mensagens seria varrido e analisado em busca de padrões suspeitos. A criptografia teria de ser ultrapassada.
Mas este fio é sobre o processo legislativo. E só temos espaço para alguns destaques.
➡️ Investigações jornalísticas revelaram que a proposta teve origem numa vasta rede de empresas tecnológicas, fundações e agências de segurança, que tiveram acesso privilegiado à Comissão.
As soluções previstas na legislação, muito criticadas por peritos, reproduzem as soluções concebidas por esses grupos, promovendo assim os seus interesses económicos.
Entre eles, a Thorn. Uma organização sem fins lucrativos que factura muitos milhões em licenças de software. Fundada pelo actor Ashton Kutcher, a Thorn gozou sempre de amplo acesso aos bastidores da UE, para andar a promover a adopção do seu software.
Já a WeProtect Global Alliance, uma rede composta por agências de segurança, governos, gestores da BigTech, ONGs, e um executivo sénior do gabinete de Johansson, recebeu €1M do gabinete de Johansson… e é uma grande defensora desta legislação.
