Romania's demographic decline damages the economy.

With a population of 19 million, Romania is sinking into a worrying demographic decline. Over 5 million Romanians have left their homeland, searching for a better life in Western Europe.

Meanwhile, companies investing in the country struggle to recruit workers.

Europe is facing a shortage of skilled workers. The Basque experience could be the answer.

Although no region is absolutely alike, there are lessons that can be adopted and scaled from the Basque model as EU member states prepare for the next wave of economic uncertainty and consequent clamour for talent.

This is 20+ years of for data collection

They don't need people to fill out forms anymore, can ask for the bare minimum with complete confidence that the first thing we're going to do after we confirm our email is enter as much and about ourselves as we can cram into the character limit of the bio field (and possibly add extra identifier emojis to our usernames for good measure)

and we'll think it's our own idea

FACT: People who live in Republican-leaning states tend to have less money, worse health conditions, higher rates of gun-related deaths and lower levels of education than people living in Democratic states

But Idaho, Montana and Florida had the highest population growth among US states between 2020 and 2022.

The other day, talking about issues on the fediverse, @mekkaokereke proposed an (apt) analogy which led to a tangential conversation about racism in Boston. I noticed, as I have whenever this comes up, a curious thing about what “Boston” seems to represent in the public imagination.
