I’ve been given the Janet Arnold Award by the Society of Antiquaries to recreate clothing described in the Tudor song, Greensleeves.
Really excited to be working on this project with a team of superb costume historians.
Among other things, there will be a video to come in the future, and a book about Greensleeves & early modern clothing in music and song, but in the meantime, here is our recording of the words and music…

I’ve had my for about a month now. Progress is slow but I’m finally at least able to find the bass strings without having to stop and curse.

Here’s a very simple 16th century English piece. Still clunky and uneven but getting there. Playing with no nails for the first time in over 45 years is also a challenge!

Per il momento ho caricato solo un paio di file non miei, per verificarne il funzionamento.

Per esempio, per far sentire una serie di madrigali meravigliosi di Alessandro Striggio, La caccia, che descrive una caccia di nobili nel mantovano.
Comincia con la fredda alba che esce 'dalle gelate braccia di Titone' - e dopo qualche minuto è tutto un susseguirsi di versi di animali, corna da caccia, lupi che arrivano.
