My unscientific, high level, impression from (virtual) attendance of #fosdem2024 is that we are entering a third period of the "movement".
The lone hacker #foss years are fading away, the #bigtech#opensource embrace is currently very dominant but we are slowly getting into yet another era where the public sector is involved.
Today at #Fosdem2024 I had the opportunity to get my #Mastodon official mug :mastodon: and the honor to shake hands with @Gargron. :blobaww:
In my fanboy moment I shared with him my deep gratitude for saving my digital life from the evil corps that were dominating the public discourse until the rise of the #fediverse. :fediverse:

We had a great open #robotics Bird of Feathers at #fosdem2024 today. Thanks to all the attendees and thanks Windel and Lucas for the impromptu lightning talks. #fosdem.
#IPCEI-CIS will get more than 2 billion Euro to develop a "Multi-Provider Cloud -Edge Continuum" as announced on #fosdem2024. The European Commission approved the money beginning of December 2023. The aim is to develop the next-generation cloud infrastructure and services.

For building an #AI#pipeline, Tuana Çelik proposes to take a look at the Python-based #Haystack framework. It looks promising and consists of so-called components that can be arranged into pipelines. There are demo projects available on HuggingFace. #fosdem2024
