The results are in, after seeing about 800 boosts on the post to see how the Mastodon embed actually affects our server load. Here's what happened....basically nothing for us.

@gamingonlinux it's kinda funny that instead of hiring someone to submit a patch for their issue, decided to publish the article about their technical problems

The article reads superficial, like vague request for commercial proposal but for free lol

Folks, this is not journalism...

I do most of my with the default tool from @gnome. Sometimes, however, when I like to highlight elements, I prefer to use . 🔗 https://shutter-project.org

Today, I accidentally came across this older article from @itsfoss and learned, you can actually also use @GIMP for taking screenshots. (file > create > screenshot)

It''s pretty cool if editing is necessary since it opens the image in .

@itsfoss has an article up showcasing 8 websites that every Linux user should be familiar with.

  • ArchWiki
  • Explainshell
  • Crontab.guru
  • Distrowatch
  • Phoronix
  • Ubuntu Blog
  • GamingOnLinux
  • /r/Linux on Reddit

Awesome to see @gamingonlinux there. I personally use the RSS feeds for several of these rather than a bookmark, but it's all good.

Not long ago, someone asked me, what was a Virtual Machine?

I simplified my answer and said it is an OS inside another OS. Which arguably is accurate.

However, "It's FOSS" has recently written up a simple paper explaining, VMs.

For the newbies out there, I think it is worth the read.

A neat "book" i came across courtesy of @itsfoss.
"Putting the 'YOU' in CPU" explains how a CPU works, how computers run programs, and the basics of these wonderful devices that have taken over our life, in simple (ish) terms.

For anyone that wants to know HOW computers do what they do, this is a great place to start, and it's free, readable on the website, on GitHub, or as a downloaded PDF.
