More on Hyperion. I made a shaded relief drawing based on those images (from the individual images, not from the mosaic). Again it is somewhat of an over-interpretation, For instance I convinced myself that there were grooves or other linear features on the northern rim of the largest crater (only its northern rim and a central mound are visible, on the left map of the two). Cassini shows there are no such linear features. #maps
Another quick look at Chang'e 6 today. This is a very preliminary map of the landing site with the rover path (approximate) and other details. This map will evolve as we start to see papers and presentations about the mission. #maps
Improvements occurred in parts of the Midwest, High Plains and Pacific Northwest, plus Hawaii. Degradations occurred in Maine, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Illinois and Missouri, with mixed conditions elsewhere.
'Over 50 young creators from around 20 cities in 10 European countries gathered in Prague over the last few days for the first ever USE-IT map conference to be held in Czechia. These free, non-commercial maps are intended to promote sustainable tourism by giving young travellers tips on where to go without spending a lot of money and how to blend in and act like a local.'
Another version of the map with radius contours (numbers in kilometres). The outline of the map is the shape's convex hull so it doesn't show the deep valley which divides the asteroid into two lobes. Of course, what we really need is a flyby mission with a camera. Luckily there was one later. #maps
Are there any good software/websites that let you add notes to a map?
I'd like to write down notes of places in China where friends live or I have visited, to help me learn the geography.
