Now I finally have some understanding of the structure of #Naples as a city. I had wrongly assumed that the central station is, well, roughly centrally located. But no, the actual centre with shopping, beachfront posh hotels, etc is several kilometres to the west. But sure, spending time in the more grimy run-down districts with great and cheap bars is essential, too.

Took the metro (contactless payment works) yesterday evening from my hotel by #Napoli Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi) for two stops, to Università. The metro tunnel is amazingly deep. Walked some 100 m north and the bar area started. Very gritty, graffiti everywhere, lots of small watering holes, well-behaving crowds, lovely. Narrow deserted alleyways. After arriving and checking in yesterday I was lazy and went for pizza (first one in Italy on this trip, and hey, this is #Naples) to the neighbour restaurant. No problem as such with the pizza but I probably should have walked around a bit and chosen a place with locals. This one had just a handful of other tourists.
