We are in a golden age of gaming, by which I mean all 4 pikmin games are available at reasonable prices on a single console.

Hello everyone, I'm new on Mastodon and I'm excited to be on a social network that is chill, without algorithm and without ads as it feels refreshing, relaxing and the concept of Fediverse / open online is really cool

There are many things I love to talk about but I particularly enjoy talking about Nintendo, JRPGs and Anime.

Nice to meet you 🥳

Always heard good things of the , and seeing the art/screenshots of the games gave me some vibes so I've always wanted to try it. Recently bought a copy for the for quite cheap, then also decided to buy an older release in the series, for a lot cheaper during the recent sale.

Booted into it, loved the art style, LOVED the soundtrack but my god was it a weird ass , in a very good way. My only complaint is that I freaking suck at it lololol even after going through the tutorial, I still have no idea how to control the camera and that bit is pretty much 99% of the game. I'll have to dedicate a lot more of my focus to the game if I'm gonna ever play it again.

Awesome video on 2's procedural generation including the music! Pikmin 2's cave system was incredible and great for replayability, and I wish part of it had returned in Pikmin 4 (still holding out hope for the DLC)

If you like procedural stuff or , this video is for you:

The wikia calls the action of your Pikmin losing their flower/buds as "deflowering" which is completely reasonable yet very funny

Photo mode images confirm the idea that would be fucking terrifying in first person

is a beautiful specimen of evolution in / / in a game.

Perfect example of a rough, hard to express idea worked into very refined approachable stuff

If you do game design I highly recommend picking up all 4 games on Switch.

You'll be stunned by a feature an earlier game lacked, or blissful that a prior pain point is completely gone.

Going back to pikmin 1 I was very surprised &annoyed at how long it takes for sprouts to be pikable. Sure enough, fixed next game

Edit: thread, I'll try and keep all my Pikminposting in here for now. Mute/follow as you wish

Alright time for some 1 to get both Mario and 2D Platformer off my palette before Sonic Superstars and Mario RPG

Coworker beat SMRPG and had the same complaint I expect to have, so I'm grimly curious. (basically, there wasn't much to improve, and they didn't)

I don't want to pay $60 for a minor upgrade to a game I already have, but it's slightly tempting to get 3 on Switch

All Pikmin versions on one console after entire consoles without a pikmin...and also the 3DS game.

Feels big.

Can't recommend enough. It's only difficult to recommend in that very little else is like it to compare it for people.

Over/under on how many days it takes me? I've beaten it a few times, but not in about 10 years

6 days 13 parts so far

Man it's SO much harder than Pikmin 4 which is what I remembered. Those goddamn snagrets.
508/99/2 sprouted/lost/left

Got 100 of each pikmin (more or less)

Down to the last region in 1 (plus the final boss), gonna finish it today.

I don't know it quite speedrun-level, but man, Pikmin 1 is somewhat hard even when you know 'exactly' what to do.

I'm actually kind of glad they just emulated them on Switch now, so people who came in with can truly experience the horror of the Smoky Progg and Water Wraith

1 beaten yet again, 12 days! That's about what I figured.

Still a fantastic game, controls not too bad on Switch either. Highly recommend, pikmin 2 is even better

I had almost forgotten the "pikmin are now the apex predator and don't need you" implication at the end of Pikmin 1. Would have been difficult to continue the series in that direction though

Pikmin lined up and confused

I am so hopeful for 4 DLC, the game is perfect for a bunch of new content. Single or multi-player Dandori battles, Challenge Mode, Hard Mode with restricted Pikmin numbers or more difficult enemies. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought back even more enemies from previous titles. So much opportunity :)

I'm on Day 11 now in . Not very far along level wise because I refused to move on from the first level until I hit 100%, but wow are the new quality of life improvements such a big leap in this game.

I adored the other three Pikmin games but this one just flows so much more smoothly with its gameplay features. Having so much fun with it.
