Given a collection of geoJSON features, adjoining polygons, is it possible to collate or collapse them to be just the outer boundaries of adjacent features? A handy library or postGIS thing? #geoJSON#postGIS
I'm using the spatial data type in SQL Server to get "closest neighbor" results. I really want to remove #SQLServer from the stack if I can though. Anybody try #PostGIS for #PostgreSQL? Opinions? Suggestions?
It appears my #PostGIS Tiger geocoder isn't working well. Points aren't even being geocoded to the same street. I've even used the address standardizer function before passing them into the geocoder but it doesn't help. The address standardizer output looks great, too!
How to find nearest point (from 600k points layer) to each one of 9mln points in second layer in most efficient/fastest way in #postgis? I need to process this under a day. That is my friday's #gis challenge.
We finally managed to publish an English version of the volcanic hazard map for #Grindavik
Out of all the map I´ve made at the Icelandic Met Office this series of hazard maps is the biggest one yet in terms of impact, internal discussion, public discussion and weight it bears and all the decision that are made based on it. I see this map all over the internet, TikTok, YouTube thumbnails, Facebook, you name it. There is probably enough material for an extended conference talk just about this map
We have a static STAC with +/- 25.000 images. A simple spatial + temporal query takes about 50 seconds. That's too long. Which options do we have to improve the performance?
TIL: grouping spatial objects by their proximity to each other is solved by the "Density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN)" algorithm.
