It sounds obvious in hindsight but some #philosophy researchers did a study analyzing the hundreds of thousands of posts and millions of comments in the popular subreddit r/AmItheAsshole.

People outside the so-called #threadiverse, how many Fedi groups of any kind (#Lemmy communities, #GuppeGroups, #Friendica forums etc.) did you follow before the great #RedditMigration and how many do you follow now?
For me, the stats look like this:

  • about 44 such groups right before.
  • 129 so far, since I started following the #communities / #magazines of previous subreddits (I also discovered new and interesting former #subreddits along the way, and I keep discovering them, so I think I'm not done yet).

Some are now filled with porn to protest
A handful of subreddits have classified themselves as not safe for work (NSFW) to protest Reddit's recent treatment of the platform's volunteer moderators, and as a result, some non-porn communities are starting to get a lot of porn. More than 8,000 subreddits went dark last week in protest of the company's pricing changes that are set to shut down popular third-party apps and tools.

Due to the ongoing against Reddit's new API terms, many are either private or restricted. sub.rehab lists instances of the communities on platforms.

I'm planning to self-host a Reddit like instance for myself, but I'm between Lemmy and kbin . Essentially I want to host my own data, and jump into discussions from other communities.

With a limited search results, people praise for , and bash developers about their world and political views, however Lemmy is written with , and Kbin with .

I just want to migrate to what people will be using to.

So, which solution would you prefer?

@arda At the moment, I'm not sure as I'm feeling very torn and upset over what has happened with and the recent . I still have a somewhat active account on there myself, mostly due to certain I follow of topics which interest me.

During Halloween a couple years back, I decided to dress my Reddit Avatar in a koala costume since I love koalas and was thinking about involving myself with some pro-koala activism groups due to their endangerment in Australia.

That's not what I've seen, but okay.

Reddit says it won’t overrule mods and force subreddits back open https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/15/23762792/reddit-subreddit-closed-unilaterally-reopen-communities

Reddit Says It Won't Force #Subreddits Back Open but the #ModCodeofConduct account has informed moderators that it will replace inactive moderators with active ones, who could open the subreddits back up.

So, one solution could be #RedDark #Reddit mods needs to do is open their subreddits for a little while, 12 or so hours each week, let the community bash reddit, moderate it, and then go dark again.

Rinse and Repeat. #RedditBlackout
