Yeah, another thing about that: the #universe is young. Very, very young. If its lifespan were that of a human, it'd seriously be about a week old.
It is entirely plausible that we are one of the first species to invent #astronomy and telecommunications, and that is the explanation for #TheFermiParadox. And I'd say that's pretty damn special.
Let's try not to destroy ourselves, all right? We've got a good thing going here.
Ok, this is cool: using the upgraded GRAVITY+ instrument at ESO's Very Large #Telescope, astronomers have directly measured the mass of a very distant supermassive black hole, when the #universe was only a couple billion years old.
With GRAVITY+ we can actually discern gas spinning around the black hole and work out its mass –– a technique used in nearby black holes but never directly in such distant ones until now.
@gabboman I only as of last year really got a green thumb. Even then it's been iffy. I went from like 20 plants to well over 100 now. A lot of them are food bearing but no good pictures right now since they're sleeping for winter. I'm excited tho I got some pepper seedlings I can't wait to harden off when it gets warmer. Need to try and sprout some more stuff here soon too
"Regardless, the beauty of the local universe of galaxies is evident in the image where several huge superclusters of galaxies - clusters of galaxy clusters - can also be seen."
