@thurrott My #Windows10 PC at work is being upgraded to #Windows11 next week. #Microsoft is likely saving #Windows12 for the 30th anniversary of Windows 95. The company has used that as a point in time when Windows became mainstream. August 2025 seems like the right time do it and it will be close to 5 years after Windows 11 launched.
Linux is all about choice, but as a Windows user, you likely want something that will work out of the box. You're likely looking for the least effort with the best stability.
@thurrott Well, we are talking about 10 to 15 year old products here. Microsoft is probably on the cusp of launching #Windows12 and would like to use #Windows11 and #Windows10 as the bare minimum.
Microsoft's new user agreement and terms of services indicates that not only do you not own your copy of Microsoft Windows, which you purchased, you simply lease it.
That particular part is nothing new and has been part of the Microsoft standard license agreement for years.
No, the interesting change was that by using Windows, you lease your computer to Microsoft.
It was rewritten sometime ago as a cooperative lease.
