Seriously heard someone saying they don't listen to many black artists, because they aren't really into rap. Bitch please, feel free to share songs from Black artists from any genre. Here is one of my favorites, if you like this song please check out her other work:

@RickiTarr Late to this, but Nina Simone, and Sinnerman, is still as relevant as it was sixty years ago.

I sometimes thought my father thought he could't die while he still had books on his pending pile (a stab at immortality I seem to be replicating)... so, it was strangely touching to see Tom Gauld has had similar thoughts.

You don’t have to be all Eco about libraries to sympathise.
Not so long ago, if you were eager to fill up on Penguins, or recipes, or history, or a bunch of Haynes manuals, or what a friend was excited about, you bought it.
Your reach always exceeds your grasp, so you end up with a buffer pile to get round to when you have time, or might just need one day.
And who doesn’t want all those friends and connections and memories taking over the wall space?

UK government adviser on disruptive protest accused of conflict of interest:

John Woodcock, whose review proposes bans for protest groups, has lobbying links to firms in arms and fossil fuel sectors (and is recommending bans on protests against both those industries)

@cstross Correct me, but he was originally asked to look at everything, but now can’t see a problem with anything on the right, only with nonviolent protest on the left?

And we can’t get shot of him because Lords?

Tech bros love to boast about moving fast and breaking things, so it comes as some relief to find an instance where they've moved at a more stately 17 knots and yet still utterly fucked it.

In this case the "it" being carpool vehicles. Programmed to treat movement without the engine being switched on as either theft or witchcraft, they instantly bricked themselves in response.

What happened when these vehicles travelled by ferry was perhaps predictable...

BashStKid,

@DreadShips Programming industrial hardware for a wide range of use cases when you live in a clueless ivory tower is, unsurprisingly, a disaster.

He's been a very good boy this morning. It only took two of us and some Dreamies to take his temperature at the vet, and he only growled once (as would I if someone stuck an implement up my bum).
He's had a virus infection, but he now has a clean bill of health. So it's a good today.

Incredible auroras all night, doesn't seem like we're in Kessler Syndrome yet (yay) but apparently GPS and Starlink internet aren't working for people.

A goat got into chicken food and I had to force feed him baking soda to try to save his life (we'll see how that goes ☹️ ).

I emailed the CNN reporter who interviewed me about satellite pollution a couple years ago to see if she's interested in the space junk story.

And it's Vaisakhi/Khalsa Day, so I'm going to get amazing free food!

Has anyone had experience of a cat with hay fever?
For a week now, Copper has been intermittently sneezing, with red eyes, runny but dry nose, wheezing and lethargic. He's still eating heartily, doesn't have a temperature, and everything else is normal.
He improves overnight when I keep him in, which makes me think it's an external stimulus.
He loves being outdoors so I don't want to deprive him.

Edit: Muting as thread has been hijacked. Thanks to all who offered genuine advice.

Your stats look similar to our experience. However all our cats are belled in the hope of protecting the water voles and bats, and touch wood, that’s worked so far.
Also, none of ours bother squirrels, possibly because they think they’re French loir.

Don’t worry, I wasn’t intending to be prescriptive, lots of cats do indeed not like collars.

Anyway, I fear we’ve somewhat diverted June’s original thread here.
