I headed out for a morning walk at Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia during a light autumn rain last year. The trees sheltered me from most of it. The early morning light and fall colors were amazing!

@elizach Thank you so much, Eliza! Mountain Lake Lodge is where they filmed many parts of Dirty Dancing. I had fun exploring the areas of the resort that never appeared in the movie. I received permission from the lodge to post any photos except of the lodge itself and Baby's Cabin. Let's just say that I came out far ahead in that agreement. There were many more photographic gems than the 2 very recognizable buildings (if you've seen the movie). I'm just now digging through my archives.

@elizach Oh yeah! I loved that movie, too! But when I post the images, I don't promote it as "Mountain Lake Lodge, where they filmed parts of Dirty Dancing" because I want to promote my photography, not the movie; I don't want to ride the coattails of its popularity if that makes sense. LOL

Not sure if this link will work - in early November, I posted the photo of the gazebo. The Lodge gave me permission to post this - I think because it looks entirely different than it does in the movie. In part because the lake is now empty and overgrown in the background. I was THRILLED I could share my photos of the gazebo.

Exploring downtown Milwaukee along the Milwaukee River is a treat for the eyes. The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts lights up in a mesmerizing display of kinetic art, drawing inspiration from local artist Georgia O'Keefe's vibrant color palette. The ever-changing lights paint the building in hues reminiscent of O'Keefe's work, creating a stunning art display that comes to life at night. ♥

It was steadily raining when I visited the azalea gardens in the spring. The new pink azalea buds and blooms were holding up very well to the steady rain.

It has been a while since I have done an so here goes! I'm a photographer, through and through. I am most alive when I have a camera in my hand.

Most of what I share here are my photographs. I'll also be sharing art that I create digitally, using my own photographs as the base. I've been digitally painting and transforming my photographs so that they're new creations, made by me (no AI).

Most recently, I've given acrylic (abstract) painting another try (I haven't painted since my teen years). If my paintings are not good enough to share here (from my judgment), I know I'll be able to use digital painting to complete my vision where my paintbrush leaves off.

Introducing a new piece of art in my gallery! "Sunset Over the Water" was created by digitally painting my own best-selling photograph, "Solitude at Sunset."

In the early morning on Otter Creek in the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia, the peaceful atmosphere was soothing. The warm brown hues under the morning light created a unique and charming view, different from the usual mountain scenery on the Parkway.

The Point Iroquois Light, situated on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, guides sailors through the narrow channel at the entry of the St. Mary's River. Although replaced by an automatic light in 1971, the lighthouse itself gained recognition in 1975 when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wow, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia was truly breathtaking! We had to screech to a halt (safely!) and pull over when we saw the sun shining through the dark gray clouds, creating spotlights over the valley. It was a surreal sight!

Okay I have done the impossible....cleared and organiz(ing) all kitchen and home cupboards, and today, cleared all things unworthy from freezer and fridge. OMG what a job. No cleaning today. I'm not fit for it. But great relief to have the deciding done. Made a couple of other disengaging decisions today and that is also GREAT relief to have made them and acted on them. Dusted and done, as they say.

@Lizette603_23 what a job it is to organize kitchen cupboards. I put it off but once it’s done, I wonder why I put off for so long because it feels so good to accomplish the task. And then I remember, I hate cleaning out the cupboards. Vicious circle. Haha.

Happy Hollow Gardens in South Roanoke County, Virginia is truly a hidden gem. The wooden walkway makes it easy to wander among the blooming azaleas, especially in the early Spring when everything is vibrant and colorful. The contrast between the green trees and the pink azaleas is simply stunning.

The monochromatic image of the Lower Tahquamenon Falls beautifully captures the striking contrast between the frothy white waves of the river and the green-leafed & fir trees under an overcast sky. Its universal appeal is evident in the equal number of sales for both photographs in my gallery.

It was an incredibly cold (mid-30s Fahrenheit) winter morning at sunrise on the beach in Melbourne, Florida. But to see the sky come alive with all these colors, and the reflections of the sun on the clouds overhead….worth every minute!

We visited Tahquamenon Falls in winter during light snowfall. Warmer weather the previous week melted some snow, and the water appears brown due to tannins from cedar swamps along the river. Hearing the water cascade over the falls is truly magical.

Rock Castle Gorge is one of my favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. Many people hike the 10.5 mile loop through here and I've heard it's a strenuous trail that will take most of the day. But the views are fantastic! Rock Castle Gorge is at Mile Post 168.6, less than 10 miles from Mabry Mill.

The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse is on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The original lighthouse was built in 1853, but was poorly constructed, so was rebuilt in 1866 with the present lighthouse. In 1965, it was painted red, making it unique on the Great Lakes.

Growing up, I spent many hours on this observation deck overlooking the MacArthur Lock at the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. There is a 21 foot difference in water levels between Lake Superior & Lake Huron. The locks are 100% gravity-fed and require no pumps. The largest lock (Poe) needs 22 million gallons of water to lift or lower a boat!
