How an El Niño-Driven Drought Brought Hunger to Southern Africa.

A record-breaking drought, fueled by the El Niño weather pattern, has caused widespread crop failure and national emergency declarations in Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. Without harvests of maize, the staple food, millions in the region are facing a severe hunger crisis.

The seemingly “never-ending” rain last autumn and winter in the UK and Ireland was made 10 times more likely and 20% wetter by human-caused global warming, a study has found.

More than a dozen storms battered the region in quick succession between October and March, which was the second-wettest such period in nearly two centuries of records. #ClimateChange

Fatalities and serious injuries from turbulence are rare, but climate change is making it worse.

Last year, a study by meteorologists at the University of Reading in the UK found that skies are up to 55% bumpier than four decades ago due to climate change. #ClimateChange

A new study reveals a significant link between higher temperatures at night and increased stroke risk, particularly in the elderly and women.

Researchers analyzed 15 years of data from Augsburg University Hospital and found a 7% increased risk of stroke following tropical nights. The study emphasizes the need for adaptation strategies and urban planning adjustments to mitigate the impact on public health.

Good point, if too hot you can sleep naked under say a duvet, you can take the duvet off and just sleep naked on the bed, after that there are probably fewer options if you can't take anything else off.

@ClimateNewsNow We're at convergence of war & climate refugees now. Both of those numbers will increase as our governments(all around the world) keeps on doing less than bare minimum. They are more invested in protecting their ecocidal lobbyists & their backpocket backroom bribes than they're invested in taking more environmental protections for climate action & helping citizens recover from climate change crisis emergencies.

Why the world's oceans are changing colour?

The balance of phytoplankton populations in the sea is shifting as a result of human-induced climate change, altering the oceans in profound ways.

When you picture the ocean you might imagine sparkling turquoise waters – but recent research suggests swathes of our world's oceans may in fact be turning greener.
