Have to take Boots the Cat to the vet today (routine checkup) and it’s going to be awful. He gets so scared

Vet results: as far as an exam and blood work can tell, Boots is doing well. We’re managing his cardiomyopathy with medications. His heart murmur has not gotten any worse. His lungs sound good, also no worse. His blood work was good: good electrolytes, no anemia, no evidence of infection, thyroid good, kidney and liver results good. He even gained a bit of weight!

Back home, and so to bed

*in Indiana, a “tenderloin” refers specifically to a sandwich traditional in that part of the Midwest, made from a piece of pork tenderloin pounded flat into a thin disc the size of a dinner plate, breaded and fried, and served (usually with pickle and shredded lettuce) on a bun that’s hilariously too small for it

They’re usually too dry and kind of burnt

The probe is 47 years old. Younger than me! If I’d gotten my shit together, I could be at least 140 AU out from the sun by now. Well, I didn’t. Another opportunity passed me by.

I have a dumb question

What the heck is an allotment?

I get it’s a patch of land somewhere you get to use for gardening, but that’s where my understanding leaves off.

Who owns the land? Who administers the allotments? How are they assigned? For what term? How much does it cost? How big is an allotment? How far from your home? What can you do with an allotment? Do you know your allotment neighbors? Is there inter-allotment conflict?
