I had a new experience on this morning’s club ride.

The person in front suffered a rear tyre puncture. The tyre was set up tubeless. For a short while, I got sprayed by the white sealant as it squirted through the hole in the tyre as it continued to rotate.

I expect there already is, or should be, a name for this joyous (sarcasm) experience. Mastodon, enlighten me. What do you think?

Possibly Unpopular Opinion Alert:

This year's season was pretty boring.

Last year we had Fem vs Puck vs Shirin with Lucinda Brand and Ceylon Alvarado always close at hand. This year Puck was Mtn Biking and Shirin was injured. Fem won everything and Ceylon and Lucinda won when she wasn't there. Other than Zoe Bäckstedt not much happened.

The men's side was similar. Last year we had the Iserbyt vs Sweeck grudge match in the early part of the year, followed by the Big Three lighting up a number of races and the Rainbow Jersey being won by inches. This year, Wout was a non-factor (trying to lose weight for the Giro?), Pidcock was also a non-factor (Mtn and Road). Sweeck had a terrible year and MVDP won everything by a country mile (or kilometer).

Kinda boring if you ask me. Hope next year will be more interesting!

@MylesRyden I found the racing less exciting in general. Benidorm was the best by far.

I didn’t find it boring, though. The races and riders ebb and flow over time.

I could watch race a bike all day. I’m fortunate to have seen him race from the side of the course many times. He is poetry on a bike. Amongst all the world class riders around him, he has something extra and it’s there to enjoy when he’s leading by a margin. I don’t get quite the same when Fem leads.

We are living in times of exceptional talents. Mathieu van der Poel is perfection on a bike this season. Wout van Aert, Tadej Pogačar and Tom Pidcock are in the same category of rider.

I think it’s the best time to be a cycling fan and I am loving it. I don’t think we will see so many world class talents again at the same time in our lifetime.

    It’s time for round one of the cyclo-cross race series in .

    I was there last year when the race was part of the World Cup series. The racing was great. The speed carried by the riders through the wet and muddy woods was so impressive.

    The beer tent was not quite so impressive!
