OK last announcement.

If you live in Ohio you should have voted "no" by now. But, if you haven't you still have till the end of Aug 8th! Time to search up your poll site and get going!

(But, don't feel bad if this referendum caught you off guard, Ohio Republicans are hoping no one will show up to vote.)

Vote NO on issue 1. It's a strange constitutional amendment that changes the threshold to make it possible for a small group to veto everything. It's the only thing on the ballot.

@DevorahOstrov @Krisss It’s a false narrative. The series of pictures, often shown to demonstrate it, were deliberately placed out of chronological order. He was likely just neurodivergent, and probably didn’t need to be institutionalized.

I'm working on a new song for a comp and as the lyrics came together, I realised that in the 41 years I've been writing songs, 90% of them have been me questioning why I feel things that "normal" people don't.

At what stage do those of us who are different just accept our differences and stop holding ourselves to impossible metrics?

Me, idgaf. I learnt by the age of seven to ignore orthodoxy. You had to as an Indian kid in '70s Britain.

I hope kids now have it easier.

@futurebird The concept of “self” is the toughy, I think. If we could instantaneously duplicate every atom in my body 3 ft to my left, I’m quite certain the duplicate won’t be me. He probably will have his own “self”.

So how do we upload and preserve “self”. Because, as far as I’m concerned, there’s no way I’ll be what gets uploaded.

Exception would be an incremental process where “self” is preserved at each increment.

I get so tired of our Democratic politicians expecting the GOP to show good faith, follow the rules, or have an iota of ethics or compassion.

If the machinations around filling Supreme Court seats, and the debt ceiling debacle didn’t make that clear, I’m not sure anything will.

When Democrats have the power to make changes, they worry about precedent, and not pissing off the bullies in the GOP. <shakes head>

So let me get this right...

The Mastodon app is no defaulting to mastodon.social so that when people join they aren't confused and can decide to switch instances if they choose.

Which, let's be honest, most wont.

I get trying to play to peoples expectations. People expect Mastodon to be like Twitter because that's what everyone compares it to, and when they are asked to select an instance, their brains glitch and they become disinterested.

Will this work? I don't know. Time will tell.

@Catwoman69y2k @Mrfunkedude It would be nice if there were an app that made switching instances easier. Like, how do I keep my followers, follows, lists, and blocks? I probably can’t keep my followers, but I can start over on that. I’m not exactly a fountain of interesting content anyway.
