Baroness Kidron was talking about AI generated CSEM again on the today program on Radio 4 this morning. With this alarming development end-to-end encryption becomes more important. It’s the only way parents can share images of our children without risking them falling into the wrong hands

A legal opnion from Dan Squires KC of Matrix states the UK’s Online Safety Bill would be unlawful due to its restrictions on freedom of expression and its censorship. https://www.openrightsgroup.org/press-releases/legal-opinion-finds-online-safety-bill-may-breach-international-law/

Anything that shines a light on Mindgeek is a good thing. Especially as upcoming online ‘safety’ bill is going to require users to potentially hand over ID or for them to collect biometric data to verify age https://www.wired.com/story/pornhub-tracking-cookies-gdpr-video-history/

Here we go. Days after ministers of Five Eyes met we see an attack on E2EE under the guise of protecting children https://www.gov.uk/government/news/69-countries-call-to-remove-online-child-sexual-abuse-materials But using E2EE and encrypted storage of pictures is the safest way of ensuring your children’s pics don’t end up in the hands of a predator who then fixated on your child or even uses innocent pics to create AI deepfakes.

This story about AI generated CSAM is horrifying https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65932372. As a parent it makes me even more defensive of the need for E2EE technology. If you share family pics on social media you now risk a pedophile using them to deepfake CSAM.

Quite a few people reporting that twitter has wrongly flagging their account as spam and imposing restrictions on them.

The UK Government is about to launch an advertising campaign to undermine the end-to-end security of your family's DMs. E2EE helps to ensure when you share a picture of your children, a paedophile or criminal isn't snooping on that image. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-65686989

Wikipedia says it won’t comply with UK online safety bill requirements for age verification. Pleased to see then pushing back against Government’s attempt to control a free internet https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-65388255
