“For Whom Is Campus to Be Safe?”

“…For students and faculty exercising their right to academic freedom including the freedom to protest? Or for those who require a militarized system of surveillance and policing in order to feel “comfortable” in maintaining a status quo that has continued for far too long?”

How the only tenure-track Black faculty member at Texas A&M University’s School of Nursing was targeted for harassment by white anti-DEI conservatives which led to her decision to leave.

Here are some photos from my phone during a trip to catch the solar eclipse in Waco, Texas. It suddenly turned very cloudy as it entered totality but I managed to capture a glimpse before it was completely covered by clouds.

I'm a signee of @phpledge .

This means that I won't attend, speak at, or promote conferences that do not have a robust #PublicHealthPolicy .

It's a hard line for me. Because if you cannot enforce public health measures, I have absolutely no faith that you will enforce your Codes of Conduct, to protect folks from harassment.

If you consider yourself an inclusive conference with a diverse community and you don't have a public health policy. You aren't as inclusive as you think you are.

@onepict @phpledge I am just curious but would you mind sharing some conferences that have a robust public health policy?

Jeannho,

@onepict @phpledge I haven’t seen any conferences that have them yet in my field and the people that plan them don’t seem to even consider this possibility. So I would be curious to see what one looks like. It might help give the organizers of those meetings some ideas.

"How the press manufactured consent for never-ending COVID reinfections: Continual reinfection was not the "new normal" Biden advertised. How did we get here?"

Great summary of how public messaging (and what we were led to expect) changed over the course of the pandemic.

I’m highlighting this part since it may be easily missed:

“The White House has yet to sign off on the guidance that the agency is expected to release in April for public feedback, officials said. One agency official said the timing could “move around a bit” until the guidance is finalized.”

They need to hear a ton of pushback from as many of us as possible.
