This little gorgeous game on the left just arrived.
While I had the limited release by Strictly Limited, when I noticed that the regular retail release had a different, but equally beautiful cover as well as a couple extras, I had to grab it when I saw it for about €20 on Amazon UK.

I love how all the released for Deathsmiles 1 or 2 have completely different covers across the systems and regions, from 360 to Switch. 😊

The first Shooters I first got into were Life Force and Gradius on the NES and capcom's 194x series of games in the arcade.

Then I moved on to the Thunder Force and Darius games on Genesis and SNES.

Then in 2000 I was able to get my first Turbo Duo and load up on all the fantastic shmups it had to offer.

@OutofPrintArchive I have always been interested in these games as they look gorgeous, but they are firmly rooted in the ''bullet hell'' genre correct?

@OutofPrintArchive Hmmmm... I really wish they would release a demo for this game. I even checked Steam, but no luck.

While I absolutely love shmups, I really only enjoy traditional ones. I have never liked bullet hell or stuff like Ikaruga. It's just a completely different gameplay style than I like.

As much as I love the aesthetics of this game, I need to try before I buy otherwise I know it's just going to sit on my shelf.

@OutofPrintArchive We had a press break down at work and I got tied up for a bit, but I wanted to say I feel the exact same way.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Ikaruga and the like, it's just not a traditional shmup and plays very differently. Almost a puzzle game as you said.

I feel the same way about bullet hell games, though. There's nothing wrong with them and I can see the appeal. It's just a very different type of shmup that I've never cared for.

@OutofPrintArchive OMG! That had not even crossed my mind but now I really want to see the Lunar games get this treatment as well!

But yeah, I'm really excited for Star Ocean. Unfortunately I'm still making my way through Tears of the Kingdom but hopefully I'll have it wrapped by the end of the year.

I downloaded the demo on both my Steam Deck and my switch to compare the two.

They both ran identical as far as I'm concerned. I'm definitely going to pick up a physical copy on the Switch.

I played through about half of the original game when I was younger but my copy had a scratch on the disc and there was a certain point where the game would always freeze so I could not complete it.

I can't wait!

You are correct. Fighting Vipers 2 was never released on consoles in the US. It will be the first time that it has 'officially' been released in the states, but we all know how easy it was to play Imports on the DC. 😁

Sounds like it was quite the place and ran by someone who was not just passionate about games but also had some connections with the industry.

I think here in the states that's kind of how DieHard Game Fan got started. Though you're probably just as familiar with their story. If I remember correctly they were an import game shop and had some connections and then started their magazine.

It's funny to think that many people over the years wanted a simple port of Daytona 2. Out of nowhere we're getting the game but as a freebie in the Yakuza game. 😂

Looks like the article also said Fighting Vipers 2 is in the game, although we have had that on the Dreamcast for years.

@OutofPrintArchive I just came across this video last night and I haven't really had a chance to look into it yet.

I noticed how long it was and and I was wondering if it is just the stuff that he did a few years ago for Amazon Prime and it's just now making its way to YouTube or are these videos actually new material?

I watched so much of his old stuff on YouTube but the stuff that he did for Amazon was always really long and I confess I did not watch much of it even though I like it.

@OutofPrintArchive I'm a HUGE fan of Blue Stinger. A terrible game but I absolutely love it! For me it's the video game equivalent of a B movie classic.

I never got to play Illbleed. Even when it was new I never saw a copy in stores. Hopefully I will stumble upon a copy in the wild at some point. Or perhaps one day I could win the lottery and install a M.O.D.E. in my Dreamcast.

At this point, I'm not sure which one is more realistic. 😅

@blogoklahoma I'm glad to hear that the closure is just temporary.

The kids and I went camping here a couple of years ago and had an absolute blast. We didn't get to do everything that we wanted and have been planning a return trip if nothing else just to take a walk through the Parallel Forest and finally have one of those legendary Meer burgers.

Why the hell has it taken me 5 years to discover that was ported to the PC back in 2018?

I am aware that most people and gaming publications detested this game, but it is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

I love the story, the characters, the soundtrack and especially the gameplay and controls. Then top it off with some RPG elements and I'm in heaven.

Other than the cutscenes it plays perfectly on the .

deserves some serious credit.

They almost always Launch their games on PC with and eventually after certain metrics are met they usually remove it.

Battle Network Collection came out only 6 months ago and they just removed Denuvo from it!

Meanwhile probably: "Is there any possible way we can add double the Denuvo to this 5 year old game?"
