The most ridiculous thing about cop procedural shows is when they ask where a person was, and what they were doing at a specific time the person always has perfect and immediate recall. I'd be desperately trying to remember what day of the week that was, and trying to open my phone calendar. If I was the cop, I'd immediately be suspicious of the person who remembered exactly where they were and what they were doing.

@DemocracySpot Thanks for asking - it's taken me a while to adjust, but I am making the best of it. Made a few friends and have to say that most of the people are pretty nice.
The food is totally uninspiring but I've found a few things that are OK.
I'm currently reading 'The Satanic Verses' by Salman Rushde. It's very dense but fascinating.
Now if I could convince people not to wake me at 6 AM, I'd be perfectly happy!

I kind of miss when Bond movies were completely ridiculous. There would be some woman named Iva Wetpussy, and she'd not wear bottoms the whole movie with no explanation. But we need to make this more inclusive, so there also needs to be a man named Colin Allbutts that wears chaps the whole time, and an Ace named Ima Notinterested, who actually gets all the work done.

    @RickiTarr My mother told me, when I was in my teens, and again in my 20s in front of my sister-in-law that she was disappointed that I was a girl because girls are so crazy. Her mother had her at the age of 52, and handed the baby off to mom's oldest sister who was 15 or so...my maternal grandmother lost at least 5 or six other babies who didn't survive infancy. She must have been quite fertile and most likely grieved for the lost infants.

    Long night so far.

    A call from my sister just after midnight that sheโ€™d taken mum to the hospital.

    Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go โ€œbingโ€.

    Itโ€™s about 4:30am and mumโ€™s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.

    Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.
