@denspier @MastodonEngineering Support for Markdown from federated servers has been added in 4.2 (see https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/23913)

Authoring posts with Markdown is planned, but we did not had time to get it done for 4.2.

We've released the patches 4.1.6, 4.0.8 and 3.5.12 today, fixing some stability issues. There are no security fixes in these updates but you are encouraged to upgrade unless you're already on one of the latest nightlies!
